Anyone here use a multi press rack in addition to a power rack? I found my cheap rack is causing problems in that the safety is either too high or too low during bench.
Occasionally i will even clip the safeties during squats which can ruin a set, but dropping the safeties any further would risk the roll of humility during bench.

I have been looking for a different rack, but solid used racks are harder to come by on CL, and the 500 for a powertec is out of the budget at the moment.
Is something like this just wasting money for when i do inevitably get a solid rack?

how far are the holes on your rack?

for the bench press:

1) You can have it higher than your chest, meaning you don't have to touch your chest on the way down, as long as your elbow is parallel it should be fine.

2) You can have it lower than your chest when you're in position, meaning that when you're flat on the bench it's above your chest, but when you pinch your shoulder blades together ready to push it can be below your chest, it shouldn't be a problem since when you fail you'll just have to remember to release the shoulder blade and go flat.

3) You can elevate the bench, just put a plank under you, problem solve.

For squat:

1) You can leave the safety slightly under parallel, because if you fail you'll be going ass to the grass, parallel and ass to the grass is a huge gap, you should be able to get the hell out under the weight.

I actually like the body solid multi press from what I see, it looks pretty good and open rack is easier to move around, if I have the money I would sell my own power rack and get that multi press.

Great reply, Thanks.
Currently i prop the one leg of my valor da-6 on the base rail of the rack. So officially it is <5 degree incline, but it just makes me feel safer. I think the holes are too far apart, i have tried to relax under the bar on safeties at a lower level and i still feel like i am more or less pinned. I wouldnt die, but it would be shiddy getting out of the situation.

The multi press intrigues me in that there are safeties and i can just fall forward/ pull back depending on squat/bench to 'rack it' as well as having the safeties if not. I think if i were to get one it would just be a dedicated bench setup as i do like a rack for squatting.

Just wondering if it is something the members here use or not.

I own that rack. I like it for convenience, but a full rack is obviously safer.

Strengths:
- Gunrack feature saves time by allowing you to rack a bar at any height and walk it up/down for the next exercise
- Sturdy (full racks are sturdier, but this is better than the usual half rack)
- No compatibility problems with benches that may happen in some small full racks
- Weight storage horns are solid
- Holes for the safeties are spaced 1.5 inches apart (smaller intervals than a lot of other racks)

Weaknesses:
- Safeties provide 13 inches of space to miss on, which is a lot for a half rack but obviously still not as good as a full rack
- Shorter than a full rack, but you can still do bent-knee chinups by putting a barbell on the top position
- Although it's smaller than a full rack, you have to do deadlifts, rows, and other exercises outside the rack, so you need more gym space overall

ive had that multi press rack along with my powertec rack for a few years. i find myself using the multi press rack most of the time due to the conveniences of the gun rack. the safeties are 17" (not 13").

btw, jessup gym will ship a new one to you for $379 so id ask that seller for a lower price.
