I own a very similar body master version and like it a lot. I do not see how this would be any worse, other than price.

I have never used this particular Atlantis piece, but I have 3 selectorized Atlantis pieces and I consider them to be one of the top equipment manufacturers. I would put them and Bodymasters at the top of the list of high end equipment manufacturers with only a handful of equals.

However, I still prefer the Bodymasters standing preacher curl that I mentioned in your other thread (the one that this one seems to be modeled after). I think the Bodymasters has several advantages, the pad is somewhat rounded and allows more variation on the preacher curl side and the bar holders are more generous space wise. I've owned a seated cybex preacher curl, seated icarian preacher curl, seated hammer strength preacher curl, and the standing Bodymasters I've mentioned. Actually, I still own all of them except the hammer strength which I sold.

Even though I think the Bodymasters would be a better choice (and likely to be cheaper as a refurbished unit), I don't think the Atlantis is a bad choice. In fact, it would likely be my third choice behind the standing and seated Bodymaster preachers.

See link for discussion of refurbished piece.

SORRY IF I SOUND LIKE A BODYMASTERS SALESPERSON

Thanks DB and ND Mike. The Bodymasters unit looks good but I am looking to buy something new and keep forever (vs. getting a refurbished one).

It is not looking good on the Atlantis model... I called a dealer in Chicago who explained that shipping from Canada will be $500 (to MN) - which is ridiculous. I don't mind paying a bit more for the piece itself if it is good quality, but I am not going to pay $500 on top of that for shipping.

My only shot is to see if there is an Atlantis dealer in MN who will agree to add one to his next order from Atlnatis so the shipping is minimized. Otherwise I am going to have to find a different manufacturer.

I was initially set on the Legend seated preacher curl but now I am interested in this standing style based on the feedback here...

If I were going to buy a top of the line curl bench it would probably be this one:

I am a big fan of Sorinex and becoming more of a fan each day. I can not see a reason you could not use this bench in a standing position if you removed the seat itself. You may want to ask for a photo with the arm pad at the highest point, but I would think this bench could be the best of both worlds in your situation.

I have a beautiful Hammer Strength Power Rack that I love, but if there was one rack I would replace it with it would probably be the sorinex one.

Just going to chime in and say the BodyMasters bench is the best IMO. It's pretty versatile; it can sit or stand, switch pad sides and much prefer the rounded pad. I do own a couple pieces of Atlantis stuff so I wouldn't doubt their bench is top notch either. If you haven't, contact Yosi at Atlantis and see if he can get you a better deal.
