Over the last year I have inadvertly allowed the weight to come back on. While I ate healthy, my portions were too big, and not clean. So, my new year resolution was to reform. I started by eliminating diet soda and watching sweets. Now I dont know which has helped the most, but Im drinking water, but Im not as thirsty as before, but my fluid intake is probably 50% less. I dont wake up being thirsty in the middle of the night, and Im not having to get up and go to the bathroom in the night. And the most important Ive lost 10 lbs. Anyone else have similar experience?

I would guess your focus on portion size had the biggest impact on the weight lose than dropping diet soda from your diet.

Diet soda wasn't holding you back. It's that stuff on your fork.

I'm convinced that artificial sweetener is toxic in our bodies. I've completely given it up, though I have to admit, I was never a big user of the stuff anyway. At the most, I've been known to drink one soda a day, and I rarely finished it. I've decided that if I'm going to allow myself a canned drink I'll have the real stuff, and I'm trying to limit that to 2 a week. I haven't noticed any weight loss but I feel better about myself for getting rid of the rat poison. I do know that for two years after I had my son I only drank Coke if I had a soft drink. I was ridiculously thin . . . but I think that was from the breast feeding. ;)

Sodas, even non-diet ones, are so chock-full of artificial anything, you may was well drink water with food coloring and poo in it.

I don't drink them often, so I decided that I was going to have the real deal if I did. I'm becoming increasingly nervous about the effects of artificial sweetener on a person's body.

OK, no alcoholic licorice for you! LOL

There are certain root beers still made with actual roots. One type from a company called Sugar Mountain is the best root beer I've ever had...not over carbonated and tastes strong of sarsaparilla.

I wanted to shoot my tongue off when i tried it, but my son, who's a big root beer fan anyway, loved it.

Im in this camp. I drink maybe 1 soda a year. And only with real sugar, no HFC or artificial sweetners. What I love is people I know go on diets and they learn the "I'm drinking 75% of my calories" trick with soda. So they switch to water and drop weight FAST (along with changing what they eat).

I hate that since I only drink water (and a beer or scotch or kava kava now and then). No pop, dairy, etc. Oh well, we're all different. :)

I still think my Purple Wraath is causing me to gain weight, but I haven't yet proven it!
