Hey brahs, I am thinking about breaking into the IT field and wanted to see if you all could help me decide which certifications I should get.

I'm very computer literate and can diagnose/repair most any problem. I can also build computers.

I am comfortable with *nix systems and I know a bit about networking. I'm great with security/hacking stuff as well.

I was thinking about studying up on A+ stuff for a week and then taking the test.

Is A+ even worth getting? What about N+/S+?

Reps for good answers! Thanks

Reps for good answers! Thanksim going to school for my associates in ITSA right now, so im preparing to take the A+ but i have heard that its only about good enough to help u get a job at Best Buy. the way i look at it though, it can only help your resume, so why not? i think the networking cert would be more beneficial though. what im wanting to get is the cisco cert. i heard starting pay doing cisco is around 70k a year.
good luck on your computing goals in 2012.

IMHO A+ is only if youre trying to get a low level tech support job. I work in IT staffing (while I get my IS degree) and I haven't seen any positions requiring any N+/S+ certifications....

go to a website that has A+ questions. pay 5 bucks, and you'll ace that chit easy

ppl skills and experience. most entry lvl stuff is dealing with end users so you have to be able to talk to them even when they are yelling at you cause their password wont work or some dumb **** like that
