I'm tired of fuking new years resolution people at my gym. They come in usually in January, hog up all the equipment and never put **** back.
Now there are more people curling in the 2 squat racks in my gym and a ton of people doing nothing but bench press and bicep curls.
Also a load of people doing quarter rep squats while rounding their lower back and thinking they are swole.
Gym only has 3 flat benches, brb waiting 15mins to use a bench.
Also a couple new kids doing tricep extensions and bicep curls, then proceeds to flex in the mirror thinking they are swole while drinking a protein shake intra workout.
Post up your stories about the new people at your gym!

The resolutioners got me a free hotel room on NYE!

Spent the night in Paso Robles and asked for the quietest room. They put us right next to the workout room. 6am they were at it on the treadmill......

Complained at the desk and they gave us the room for free!!!!! LOVE resolutioners!!!

One new kid saw me squat 3 plates, decided he'd try it after I was done - saw him struggle to unrack it, and then could barely get it on the bars again.

(Yes I take off my weights you ****s, this was 15 min later.)

There's some new cardio bunnies that make me happy in a special way. I didn't pay attention to the rest of the people.

lol. Maintaining. Actually up a few lbs still from the holidays. I didn't even go overboard but I'm sure as hell holding on to the weight. Cutting at 2,500. Looks like I may have to drop down a little

Edit: not sure what my stats even say & I'm always on my phone. It just says "an error occurred" when I try to go to my profile stuff. I'm at 210-212 right now

Some hs kids doing what can only be described as ass off the bench decline bench presses. And I use the term loosely. For an hour. That was fun to navigate around to get to a bench.

Couldn't see if the cardio deck was full of resolutioners but I assume it was.

My high schoolers around here are playing BF 3 or are in school when I'm at the gym. Why don't you go to a real gym and not use the YMCA?

This week: 1,000 total on my lifts. My lifts keep increasing so let's hope for a good rest of the week.

After that, either start cutting or keep doing a recomp. I need to just suck it up & cut.

Could be water weight. My weight is weird in that it'll remain the same and drop within the last two days up to a weigh in. You started out the year at what, 293 lb?

Uh I stopped weighing at 279. After that I Spent 2 weeks depressed & putting everything in the fridge in my mouth. Lowest time in my life. After that, my wife told me that she loved me but was going to leave me if I didn't suck it up & start being a better man & father. She was tired of watching me kill myself with food & booze. I've come a long ways but I still have plenty of road ahead of me

It's fine. I think everyone expects a huge decrease in scale weight after a couple of weeks, so when it's minimal, people get depressed.

So far nothing too bad. As the year goes on more and more HS kids join and they all bench 175lbs like the swole-ass 150lbers that they are. But that's fine, i just think it's funny.

More cardio bunnies have been a very very welcome addition. I'm only 24 so IDGAF if they're legal....I'll look all I want. inb4mygirlffriendfindsthisthreadandkillsme

Keep this in mind gentlemen - the second string team (resolutioners, etc.) keep gym doors open. People like us that go in, lift weights, and leave are not a big stream of income. The housewives (mostly, and effeminent men) that buy a year pass, get on a treadmill for 20 minutes/day for 4 weeks, buy a $7 protein shake, pay the trainer for a 10 pack of $75/hour courses, and don't come back for another year generate the income needed to keep the gyms open.

Great point.

And considering the amount of "regulars" who started off as resolutioners, some of you should really bite your tongue. It's this elitist crap that makes people nervous to join a gym in the first place and why I nearly peed my pants going to the weight room for the first time.

Get off your high horses.

Frankly, IDGAF about what other people do at my gym. Unless of course there's a group of three kids curling an empty bar for 20 minutes inside the one cage my gym has that has adjustable safeties.

Which has a tendency to happen when an influx of inexperienced people start going into a gym. Good opportunity to help them understand there are better locations to do it, or let them work in on squats. Or offer them to lift with you.

So far I'm 1/3 on the above suggestions after telling a kid to get lost after seeing him do rows in front of a squat rack (not in the squat rack, in front of). I have offered people to work in, but they are too timid. I have offered some kids a free training session on squatting, so far no dice. Interestingly, they rarely show up again after.

The only problem I have with them is most of them are ONLY doing it because of the new year, and most will not last long. They overcrowd the gym and do not have lasting goals. I am all for anyone that wants to work out and get in shape, but please be serious about it. Even if you come in and are misinformed and have a crappy workout plan, just stick to it and figure stuff out.
I work out at a Gold's Gym, so I see people like this all year long. They come in and work out for about 3 weeks, then slack off and slack off some more, until they don't show up at all. This just crowds the gym for people that are serious.

Most of the resolutionists stick to the machines. The power rack and the squat rack are rarely ever taken up, two places I usually sit around at (minus the bench).

I haven't really noticed as many this year, maybe people are still on holidays?

Either that or it's because I'm mostly in the free weights section whereas most of the resolutionists are in the other section doing one legged kettle bell squats on a medicine ball.

Helped a resolutionary out today, but he did ask. Wanted to know how to squat deep, he couldn't go down very far. Ended up telling him to look up the Squat Rx series and work on the relevant problems. Kind of nice to know that a noob that wasn't going deep at least knew he should be.

Gym was crowded today due to New Years hours and two guys who had been training together were like "Are you Jason Blaha?" and I am like, "Yep that is me." "We're subscribed to your channel... can I ask you some questions about my deadlift?". New years is all good. I'm helping people for New Years already.
