Just finished a 11 day stay in Thailand. Had 7 days of 1 on 1 Muay Thai training at Patong Boxing Gym. The training was amazing. I even got to spar with two trainers there. One guy once, and another guy twice. Too embarassed to post any of the videos cuz the first guy just toyed with me and countered like all of my punches. The first time I sparred my original trainer, he called out all of his punches, but I still couldn't block them all. Then the 2nd time, I just got my ass kicked, but learned so much.
Anyways, during the sparring sessions, I was dying. After the first minute I was dying. And near the end, I became a punching bag cuz I had no energy to defend myself and could barely keep my hands up.
Before the trip I was 305. I got back and weighed myself at 299. So I lost 6 lbs training although I snacked a lot during the day.
I got back and ran 1.4 miles in 17min 38 seconds. 3 mins running, 1 min walking. Had to work on my cardio. But I think the fights in Thailand are 5 mins each. I'll eventually work my way up there, but right now I'm dying after 3 mins.
By this year's time next year, I wanna go back to Thailand and hopefully be ~200 lbs and do a fight in Thailand. That is like <2 lbs per week.
Right now I weigh 291 lbs. I pretty much cut out all the carbs from my diet so the weight I lost since the trip back is more than likely just water weight. The only carbs I'm eating are in the morning: honey + 1 packet oatmeal + banana. Possibly another fruit before lunch.

I checked out 3 MMA/kickboxing gyms near where I live in San Francisco.
Undisputed Boxing Gym in Redwood City, CA: From the looks of it, I will probably end up doing more pushups and situps than actual punching/kicking and technique. I will give it one more shot, but I probably will not join this gym since it is too far from where I live.
Gym 445 in San Francisco: Took one of their beginner classes and was thoroughly disappointed. It would take forever to learn what you would in a week in Thailand. Very little personal interaction with the instructor. He just showed a combo and then the class would do it. Got more tired from doing pushups and situps than doing padwork. Half time spent holding pads, half time punching/kicking it. I saw an instructor do a 1 on 1 padwork with a girl and it was very weak. That is not padwork...
Faito Tamishi with Darren Uyenoyama in Daly City: This gym seems to be the best one so far, but don't know if he teaches there. There is one instructor for the class. On Friday, it was a smaller class, but I heard it gets to be 10-15 earlier in the week. The instructor gave a lot more pointers much like Muay Thai teacher in Thailand. Although it is from a different perspective than my first teacher it is still much appreciated. Half the time you're holding pads, half the time you're doing the padwork. But the sound from the guys kicking the pads and punching is on a whole other level compared to the first two gyms. They spar 2x per week Monday and Wednesday. I'll try to spar at least 1x a week.
I will check out World Team USA on Ocean in San Francisco tomorrow/Tuesday. But based on the reviews, I might sign up for FTCC in Daly City.

I took 2 benadryls before I slept cuz I got a sun rash or something on my chest and back from the time I ran in the sun with no sun tan lotion in Thailand. I took 2 at like 12PM Saturday. Knocked out until 7 PM. Then 12 Am I was getting sleepy and nodded off, but I was no longer sleepy until 4AM. Then I took 1 more benadryl. I woke up at 4PM. 12 hours of sleep!!! Just went for a run.
1.4 miles: 16 min 13 seconds. Shin muscles and foot muscles were super fatigued. Felt hella tired, but happy because I knocked off almost 1.5 mins.

Checked out World Team USA on Ocean St in SF. It was 30 minutes of warm up session. I was already gassing during the jump rope. LOL Then, we did 2 kicking drills. Then some slow 9 count pushups at the end and it was killing my shoulder. Had to sit out the last two reps. I was surprised at the price of the place considering how much AKA in San Jose costs in comparison. Will more than likely sign up at FTCC.
Just did some assisted pullups. Was one away from the entire stack on the bottom! Fudge. I am so weak right now. I was able to do 1 chin up body weight when I was in Thailand, but now I can't even pull myself up. Pretty sure I overworked my muscles over there, but I do not regret it one bit! Strength can be built up again.
Assisted Pullups 114 ( I think that was what was on the plate) - X 12, 8, 6
Seated Rows 2 plates - 3 sets of 12
Situps x 20
2 mins of front kicks, 3 mins of knees - this was more tiring than the cardio
15 mins level 8 cardio - just to kill some time before I go to work.
I was aiming for 15 reps each, but too weak at the moment. I'm gonna try to get all my exercises at 15 for endurance purposes...
Oat meal, blue berries, banana and a squeeze of honey + 1 scoop protein shake for breakfast.
BJJ and Muay Thai in the evening.

damn.. seems like most of the gyms are all about pushups and situps instead of learning technique. first gym i tried starts with 15min warmup then we work on technique by throwing combos, hitting pads, etc etc for about 40mins then finish up with abs/bodyweight cardio
good luck with everything

Crap. I can't start the BJJ classes until I get a Gi and they don't have one in my size yet. There are only 2 non gi classes on Monday and Saturday. Will definitely attend those.
Just signed up for 1 year. Averaged out to be like 80 bucks a month which is a pretty sweet deal considering there are 2 Ralph Gracie Jitjitsu black belts teaching the BJJ classes.
Did their boxing class last night, but couldn't do their BJJ class cuz I had no gi. Ate a ton of rice yesterday night. Fudge... Couldn't resist temptation.
Morning 12/7/11
1.4 Mile run: 15 min 54 seconds. Would've been 53 seconds but didn't press my watch in time! Cut off 20 seconds from the last time, but didn't do 1 min break before the final stretch cuz I just wanted to set a new PR.
I was tired as hell during this run. I couldn't run nonstop during my 3 minute running session. Had to walk a few seconds in between before I picked up the pace again. My muscles were more fatigued than my cardio.
Kickboxing in the evening. Will probably do some ab work later in the evening. I was holding a huge pad during one of the drills and the guy had some incredible power. I can't imagine taking one of his punches to the body. I felt the impact every time. I had to hold the pad tight cuz my hand would slap against stomach and then it'd hurt.
Granola almonds and cranberry + milk + peanut butter for breakfast today. Will go back to regular oatmeal tomorrow, but I could not resist the granola! After eating it, I am over granola for now.

Keep it up bro. Didn't realize you and I were the same weight. Well, we were, I just weighed myself today and since I started I have gained 10lbs. Wtf.

Just did boxing class and BJJ. About 2.5 hrs of class.
The guy I was holding mitts for was fast as hell. Couldn't meet him half way a lot of the time. And when I was ready to catch his punch, he wasn't ready to throw it or he'd throw it after I already motioned for a punch. Boxing was tiring, but BJJ was freaking exhausting.
BJJ was more cardiovascular than anything. I was winded during much of the grappling session. I was even gassed during the warm up drills. I think we rolled for at least 20 - 25 mins. I learned one way to pass guard. It's hard to do when someone is defending against it. During the grappling session, I tried doing it, but I got swept and fell into side control. It was hell when I got full mounted cuz I'd be so out of breath and then I'd have a guy sitting on top of me. I got full mounted multiple times, but I finally passed the guy's guard into full mount and sat on him. 291 lbs on his stomach. HAHAHAHAHAH. He told me was dying after the session.
I also grappled with another guy. He's got a lot more experience. He tried for a gi choke, but while I was defending it, he grabbed my arm and put me in an arm bar. Got submitted, but it was fun as hell. Can't wait to do BJJ again!

Went to a friend's bday on Friday. He lived 1 hr 10 mins away. Ate burger at IHOP. Didn't get home til 4:30AM. Only had 1 shot of tequila.
Woke up at 12PM and missed No-Gi Jiu Jitsu.
Yesterday I was so tired from work I almost passed out.
12/13/11
1.5 miles on treadmill. Took me 19 min 20 sec. Was dying... My left shin felt so pumped/swole it hurt pretty bad.
4x10 situps. 10 seconds between each set. Was dying...
But I feel good this morning. Less tired than I thought I was going to be.

Yup I was like 5'8.5" or something at the doctor a while ago. I know a few people who claim to be 5'10" but I'm taller than them so uhh... maybe I'm 5'10" I dunno, but I'd trust the doctor's height more.
I am fat at 292. I'm weighing in like 294 right now or something. Not sure really. Just having my weight vary day by day depending on what I eat.
I'll won't have a gut at like 240 --- but I've never gotten a 6 pack even at 199 lbs.

Just finished 2 hour session of BJJ.
I got home from work and was planning to nap for 15 mins before I go to boxing class, but I was so tired I decided to skip it. It all worked out because BJJ went from 8PM to 10PM instead of 8 to 9 PM.
The instructor was really cool. I learned so much today.
Learned how to do an arm bar from full mount and the instructor was really cool about it. We partnered up. I couldn't do it the way he showed because I'm not really that flexible to swing my legs around to his head, so he adjusted the technique for me and my body! He probably weighed like 160 or something and I was scared of sitting on him cuz I'm so big. He told me to sit on him and there's nothing to worry about. So I sat on him and drilled the arm bar a few times. Felt like I could pull it off if I don't get thrown off my full mount position.
I grappled one of the other guys and I managed to finally pass his guard into full mount. Damn that felt good considering the first time I grappled with him, he was on top like 90% of the time. And then all of a sudden, he bridged up and then swept me and reversed it then submitted me. I was like crap. I got submitted twice in 2 minutes. First was shoulder lock. Then, the 2nd time he got side control and then like spun around and got me in a gi choke.
My wrist hurts from holding onto the Gi and constantly twisting it to keep position.
Also, I found out why I'm getting so many bruises on my chest! It's from grappling the other guys and because they are grabbing onto my Gi and pushing/pulling against my chest. I got like 4 new bruises.

My wrist is hurt. Can't rotate it without pain. :( I think it's strained. Will have to take a few days off from everything and hopefully it's nothing serious.

Finally started working out again. Can't stop putting off working out cuz of my wrist. It was still hurt last week, but I guess that just means I won't be doing BJJ and focus on Muay Thai/Boxing.
Cardio: 17 mins this morning.

Oh god. 30 mins of intervals. Tried to run in the beginning. Did like 8-9 mins of intervals then died. Decided to finish the rest on the bike. Then did 20 sit ups and cramped. NOOOOO..... So out of shape.

By this year's time next year, I wanna go back to Thailand and hopefully be ~200 lbs and do a fight in Thailand. That is like <2 lbs per week.
You might have trouble finding someone to fight in Thailand at 200 pounds. From what I've heard (I've never been there) but the people are a lot smaller than here, and its harder to find larger opponents.
But good luck! I want to go over their too one day.

Wednesday 1/18/12
1 Mile time 13 min 20 seconds. Average pace 4.5 miles. 22 sit ups
Muay Thai class at night and then sparring.
Took a hit to the jaw with my mouth open and it hurts to bite down today. It hurts less than yesterday, but hopefully it'll go away by Monday so I can spar again.

Yea I got a friend who fought there at 205, but his opponent was fat and not a lot of challenge.

Just got back from Boxing and BJJ class.
WOWWWWWW
I thought I sucked in BJJ cuz whenever I grapple the guys in the night class, they keep whooping my ass. And I'm thinking, "Am I really getting better or am I staying the same?"
Against the guys with more experience, it doesn't show that I'm getting any better. But against guys who are less experienced than me, I pass their guards and escape their mounts!!! I was like, "Fcuk yeah!"

Trained Monday through Thursday last week 2x per day. Took Fri-Sun cuz I was lazy... I thought I'd go workout during these days but got too lazy.
I got some Vibram KomodoSports LS. Ran a bit under 1.5 miles today. People said to do .5 miles and then work your way up, but I felt fine and went more.
I didn't get exhausted like a lot of the other people mentioned. If anything, I got less tired and sweated a lot less than usual. My shins hasn't hurt like they usually do after I run. I don't have that tingling/irritating sensation in my shins. And my feet didn't feel exhausted. My calves are pretty big and don't get sore too easily.

Haven't updated in over a month. Still training mostly BJJ --- 4-5x a week.
Just ran 5k on a treadmill.
First 2 miles, I hit a new PR. I wish I wrote down how fast I did it the last 2 times.
21 mins 50 seconds!!!!
5k Total time: 39 mins 10 seconds. (.4 mile warm up. 2.7 mile after that)
I think the first time I ran it, I did it in 25:51
The 2nd time I forgot. I'm gonna guess I did it in 24 min 01 seconds. I know I shaved off like less than 2 minutes form it. So I'm guessing I shaved off 1 min 50 seconds. Completely forgot. But 2 minute PR nonetheless this time around.
