Livefit program related question--build muscle or lean out first?
Ok. This is my first thread so excuse me if I sound stupid. But I was looking at the Jamie Eason livefit program and it says to basically build muscle first (phase 1) then lean out (phase 2 and 3).
But doesn't it make more sense to lean out first then build muscle (cuz your muscles aren't gonna show if you have fat, right?)? Not that I am fat by any means but it just got me thinking for people who want to lose a few pounds.
So, could a person let's say go backwards with the Livefit program (start with phase 2 or 3 first)?
Also, bonus questions, if you have done this program, have you seen results?
Thanks!

In order to grow your muscles effectively, your body must be in an anabolic state, which means you are at a caloric surplus and actually gaining weight, and maybe a little fat too. Once you build your muscles to the desired levels, then you begin a cutting phase, which puts your body in a catabolic state of trimming down and losing fat. In a catabolic state your body is basically feeding on itself and your muscles won't grow while in a catabolic state.
So to answer your question, No, you shouldn't do the reversal of the LiveFit program. Bulk firsk, then cut. Trust Jamie, she knows what she's doing.

Thank you SamBetterman, I was getting worried myself, I am on phase two, week 3, and I can see a difference in my arms and my legs a way firmer, but i noticed that my thighs are touching and I haven't lost any weight, i think, not sure... I have gained two pounds. I am feeling like I am getting bulky, BUT what you said makes sense and I know I am trusting Jamie. I just hope my thighs will trim down a bit, I want to have a body like jamie's, the only difference is that I am 6 feet tall, so I know building muscle is harder because of my longer muscles. Anyway, I just hope that I will start losing some inches.... somewhere. I wasn't expecting to lose much weight, but I feel that my clothes are fitting tighter rather than looser. Am I doing something wrong? or is this all in the plan?

If you're following the plan completely, you have nothing to worry about. Typically fat loss happens in Phase 3 with the introduction of plyometric exercises and circuits.
