View Full Version : The Lonely Road to Hell: HRT Solo Contest
G Diesel

So you watched the videos multiple times and scoured the web to find every word you could related to the new phenomenon that is Hell Raiser Training. You mastered the technique, studied the split and your diet and supplement regimen are on point. You see the main HRT 12 Weeks in Hell contest thread and you’re all in… Ready to use the HRT tools to become a freak.
And then you realize there’s a problem--the proper employment of the HRT method is predicated on having a training partner, and you roll solo. Damn. Sucks to be you, bro.
Until now. Hearing the frenzied response to his training system, Rage went back to his dungeon lab and cooked up an alternate HRT program for you lone wolves… One meant to maximize your gains and challenge you in the spirit of the original program, while still walking your lonely road.
To make sure you fellas aren’t left out in the cold--it is November in Jersey after all, we’ll open up a similar contest to 5 lucky lone warrior entrants. You’ll be guided and mentored by Rage and the Animal Crew on your own personal HRT Journey and will be supported along the way with the Animal HRT Stack, making sure you get the most out of each and every set and rep.
The same rules apply here as they do in the Big Daddy HRT contest…
- You must be a BB.com/Bodyspace member
- You must be willing to keep a daily BB.com forum log covering your split, diet and supplementation plans
- You must provide a weekly video summary log
- You must have a minimum of 2 years training experience
- You must be at least 18 years of age or older
- You must live in the US and have a US mailing address
- You must be in perfect health in order to undergo the rigorous HRT method
The participant who has the heart and dedication to stay the course, do the detail work (keeping detailed training logs and video journals) and who makes the most dramatic progress, documented via before and after photos will win your own grand prize—a generous Animal care package containing products and gear with a retail price tag of $1000.
So it’s that easy. To officially enter, post in this thread and tell us a little bit about yourself, how you're an Animal, and why you should be chosen to be sponsored by Animal for a 12-week journey through hell and we’ll pick the most compelling stories to join in the madness. The deadline for entries is 11/29/11.
So what are you waiting for? There's no excuse left not to be f*ckin' jacked.

Why am I F*CKING NUTZ ENOUGH to enter HELL???
I am the type of sick person that lives for the pain that this program involves, I was going to enter with my girl but she just doesnt have the time. I have been wanting to compete for some time now and have not gotten to the point that I have been ready. I was diagnosed with crohns disease at the age of 5 and want to show all the people out there that this disease cant take everything from you, I want not only myself but the kids that I speak to about the disease that if you are hardcore enough and willing to f*cking put in the time and effort that this disease doesn't have s*it on you. I have watched the videos and have gotton very into this type of training. Weather you pick me or not I am still going to do it for 12 weeks and keep using your products, I have been a fan for years, I just feel that I have the desire and the motivation to not only show you, myself and all the people that are battling this s*it when I walk on stage this season that I am nuts and I deserve a front row seat on the train to HELL!!!!!!
Why do I want to enter HELL?
I have been through my own version of hell many times in my life and I always came out on top. Ive had more set backs and injuries in my time that would make the average man crumble to his knees and give up. But I am not an average man! I took those set backs and those injuries and I made them into something more. I made them into reasons why I should press forward, hit the weights harder and to give my all to every workout. That has helped me accomplish many goals that I had set for myself. What sets me apart from others? I actually set goals and I go get them! NOTHING stops me from reaching that goal I set! I have not reached the body I want just yet, i'm never really satisfied and try to take it to another level each and every workout! Give me 12 weeks and i'll give you my all. I will give you the Animal inside me. This 12 week routine will help me prep for my next Bodybuilding show on March 17th, 2012 in St. Louis Missouri. I will be going up against some big bad mofos and my goal is to give them a run for their money! I want them to see me onstage and say "oh ****, this guy is gonna beat me!"
So just f*ckin pick me!

I stand ready. This style of training is for those who will not falter in the face of adversity. I humbly accept this challenge, with my head down and will to conquer high. Through the sweat, blood, tears and toils with and against the iron, I would do my best to emerge victorious. I can imagine no other alternative, if I want to make it out alive.
My name is Scott and I've been using nothing but Animal and Universal supplements for the past three years. There's no need to look elsewhere. Animal represents everything I stand for and provides the basics I need to get things done.
I am ending a three month long cut and am primed and ready to plunge myself upon this abysmal path into hell. Fueled with the desire to better myself and transcend all limitations, my intentions of entering this contest are clear. I enter this path as a small animal, but with Rage's guidance and direction, I hope to emerge a bull elephant. There is no deviation from this path, for it is the only route that will take me where I want to go. I have an HD camcorder to ensure every battle is captured... I may be walking this path solo, but you can be damn sure you'll have front row seats. Brothers in arms walking this lonely road, we alone dictate our future. What can 12 weeks in this do to a person? I'm ready to find out.

Quick question..
Are we following the exact plan to a "T"?
Or do we do the training program and follow our own diet?

ANIMAL...exactly what I am.
I have been a supporter of Universal/Animal since I first began training. One of my very first stacks was Shock Therapy and Storm. This was way back in the day. From there, I have progressed and tried nearly all Animal Products. I have also participated in Animal's ABC event at Bev Francis Powerhouse gym. I have been training for 8 years. I went from a scrawny basketball player at 160 to a solid 188lbs of muscle. I have been through it all in terms of training methods and supplementation.
I recently decided to pursue bodybuilding. in the spring. I am currently looking to put on MASS!!!! HRT would be a great program to bulk me up to one day hit the stage. I am a true GYM RAT. I train about 6 days a week and in that off day, Ill go play basketball. I have to prevent myself from Overtraining. If I don't workout that day, I'm in a HORRIBLE mood. The gym is my life. Everyone that knows me knows how I am. Fitness is life.
Working as a physical education teacher, I have preached to my students the importance of fitness and nutrition. I have also spread the word among uninformed teachers on what it takes to get in shape! I started my own health group at my school and even train some teachers at the local gym.

I look forward to possibly being able to work with Rage.

Once I fish the plan I'm on now (conveniently ends Friday) I will begin my partially solo road. I am thinking of doing the regular HRT program. Since my partner isn't the most of reliable of partners, I will increase the weight to 85-90% of my 1RM and do the same 8 reps + 4 negatives. I am wanting to keep as close to the program as I can by myself. Are there any negatives in my willingness and stubbornness?

Why the hell shouldn’t you pick me?
I was born to die. Frankly my mother almost died having me back in the shi**y ultrasound days. We both came out on top. Then the doctors had to mention that I was born without my legs in their damn sockets. Seriously? Well two years in a brace fixed that although I didn’t walk until I was 3. He’s going to need braces the rest of his life to walk, yep just like Forest Gump. Nah mom said, “stick him in a damn pool and make him strong.”
Fast forward 13 years - I was a top of the line upcoming hot as sh*t chef with mad knife skills, although I couldn’t bend at the waist and touch my toes.
Fast forward 6 years - ex-wife + anger + car accident = the loss of my chef career plus right arm completely fu**ed.
And then what happend?
Two years later, arm + hand coordinated therapy, the removal of 300+ stiches and guess where this guy was. He was joining the 1% of the 1% swearing in to the United States Marine Corps.
To hell and back, I was born there. 4 years in the Corps and all I got was a few awesome friends, a sh*tload of pain and frustration and anger from being a grunt.
I’m 31, just quit smoking a month ago. I look up to the entire AnimalCrew and Live my life at my college like a damn member of the FREAKSHOW.
You want someone to make gains, to video, to make pictures, to take the time because he has heart and has noone to train with. It’s the perfect time to make something drastic happen with my goals at the gym, because I haven’t been making the kind of progress I want or need.
Once again I ask you Why the hell shouldn’t you pick me?

I am an animal, a young buck if you will. But I live by the iron just as hard if not harder than the seasoned animals and vets. I graduated US Army Infantry School Oct 29, 2009 at 18y/o 160 lbs. At that point I decided I wanted to pack on the mass until I reached my genetic potential. That is where my animalistic life by the iron began. I am still a work in progress that is far from the finish currently at 195lbs. BUT NO FINISH IS TOO FAR WHEN THE REWARD IS BEING AN ANIMAL AMONG THE MASS CARRYING MASSES. HRT will be a great way for me to train as I usually train HIT, so needless to say, I can inflict the pain that creates growth. Rage and the crew will be an awesome group to have on my side and I will be a sponge to all of their guidance. You will get everything you ask for in the requirements with a side of heart, discipline, and respect for the iron. 12 weeks in hell? I SAY BRING IT ON MY FRIEND!
----------God Bless,
Swoleberry
(p.s. I am currently in Iraq until mid Dec so will the competition be kicking off before then? If this makes me ineligible, I understand and thanks for the opportuinty anyways.)

It's 5:15am. It's dark and f*cking cold. I wake up every day to put on my sweats and drive to the gym. I have no training partner to keep me accountable, just me inside my head pushing myself harder and harder every day. At the gym I keep my head down and do work. I don't sit around talking to friends about what movie they saw yesterday. I go there to get a pump, kick my ass, and to train like that's my last training session. That's what HRT is about. It doesn't mean bull**** all day at the gym with your friends. It means you put your head down and sweat and bleed and let your blood pump through you. I'm sick of seeing people that half ass everything. That's not what HRT is. HRT is NEVER half ass. Not even one half ass rep. It's the people that can push through those last 2 reps, with no one telling them, "one more man you got this" that are truly embracing HRT. It's the ones that can do those last 2 reps alone. That's me. I do it all alone and I push it to the limit every time I go train.
I graduated high school at 125 pounds. I looked like I was 14 when I was 18. I didn't go a day without someone calling me small or skinny. I was so tired of that so I started lifting weights. I didn't know what I was doing really so I went and got certified as a trainer. I gained 30 pounds of muscle and never looked back. This summer I traveled every 2 weeks and ran a triathlon so I lost some weight. I just found out I'm going to be a dad, and all of the sudden my protective instincts kicked in and all I want to do now is get freaky jacked. I want to be the dad that is so jacked that no one will even want to look at my kid wrong, especially if I have a daughter. Before I found out I was going to be a dad I was working out 3-4 days a week. Now, without exception, I am at the gym 6 days a week. I won't miss a day of training. I am the most dedicated motivated person I can be. I already keep a blog about it. It's seanfrazertraining.blogspot.com. Check it out. I started that before I even knew about this contest. I'm ready to represent the Animal.
I train Monday through Saturday.
I've been working out for 3 years and I was a NASM certified trainer for 2 of those years.
I'm 24 years old.
Chosen or not I won't stop training. Ever.

My HRT App
As a high school kid I had the dream of playing football in college, which all came to a crashing end with a knee injury. I did what every immature kid would do, party my a** off and got fat. After my last surgery in 2002 I met a fellow gym freak that forever changed my life. I got into enough shape to able to serve my country as a Soldier in the US Army. With trial and error all on my own I have tried to mold my body into the freak I see inside me when I stare into the mirror. I have been deployed for the last year and will be finally making my way home before the end of the year. I have spent the last year preparing my body to come back to civilization so I can follow a diet and have a set schedule. I am that guy you see in the corner of the gym that wears hoodies when it is 120+ degrees and my hat pulled over my eyes so I am not distracted by the douche bags that waste my gym space. As a Soldier I live by the oath "I will never accept defeat", the gym is my playground. I have come a long way to where I am today with the help of others. It is now time for me to unleash that freak within me, to make that XL shirt fit like a baby gap smedium! I am ready to bring myself to that next level.
My motivation has come from a poster ad that I stumbled across many years and still have today. It was one of the ads from "the Journey- Its 4am, why am I here", it is because I want what others only dream of.... to be a FREAK!

My name is Staff Sergeant Kyle Gourgues, 25 years old and currently deployed in afghanistan for the U.S. Army. I am completely dedicated to the gym. No matter how hard our missions are, no matter how long our missions end up being I always make time for the gym at the end of the day. That's what being an ANIMAL means to me , having the heart of animal! An animal could be tired, an animal could be exhausted and hurting, but when the time arrises for it to attack none of these factors matter. That's how i feel when it comes to getting in shape for me. I'm not sure if I can enter the contest because I am currently in afghanistan, but would love the chance. I am currently training very vigorously to get my body in shape for special forces. "I WILL KEEP MY MIND AND BODY CLEAN, ALERT AND STRONG, FOR THIS IS MY DEBT TO THOSE WHO DEPEND UPON ME!", is an excerpt from the special forces creed, which i keep in my mind at all times to stay focused during my missions and my time i spend in the gym. I have internet here in afghanistan so i would be able to do the daily logs and video logs. I have been working out for over 5 years now and will never stop no matter where life takes me!

Most people think I'm crazy... they don't understand what I do or why I do it. To them it's torture or maybe they consider it stupidity. While they are catching Z's I'm up with a bang. Every morning my feet hit the floor at 5am and I head down stairs to take my Animal Pump and/or Rage... slaughtermelon & eggs. After my Animal gear has a chance to go to work I down 10 egg whites, 20 oz of whole milk, & 2 pieces of wheat bread. My garage is my dungeon of pain... when I walk in my body comes alive, my blood begins to boil, and I'm gritting my teeth. I read one of the many Animal posters that covers the walls as I prepare my mind and body for the beating it is about to endure. My animal hat goes on to keep the head hot, hood goes up, and my Animal lifting straps or wrist bands come into play. Why so much Animal talk? Animal is one thing I believe in... it's no bull sh*t products for hardcore bodybuilders and lifters. There are so many gimmicks these days claiming quick and easy results... nothing quick and easy is worth doing. Animal is burned into my soul... it's what I am. As I slam out the last set my intensity is sky high... I look right and see the Rage poster from the 2011 Olympia. It holds one statement that seals the deal... "Lance, train hard, Rage..." signed Eric "The House" Frankhouser. And then I look left and see "Never Surrender" signed by Frank "Wrath" McGrath. I am forever motivated... reminded that I am grateful to fight this battle... me versus the iron. I will never give in... I will scratch until there is nothing left. As I head inside for meal number two, I can feel this desire welling up in me. I can feel the growth, the nutrient rich blood swelling more in my veins. As I chomp on these words a smile creeps on to my face... my wife is still sleeping and I'm on meal 2. Why? I am grateful for this life... Wrath has faced some serious trials. He has been put to the test time and time again... and yet I was there to see him stand on stage at the 2011 Olympia in incredible condition. My respect goes out to these Animals that are real. My story is no cupcake... I was a slave to drugs and alcohol for years. I could not stop... and eventually did not really care if I lived. In 2007, God delivered me from my insanity and my life was changed forever. The addiction had completely driven out my desire for anything else... including bodybuilding. But when I got clean and sober my desire to lift started tearing at me. Before I began this journey I weighed 136lbs... today I sit at 186. I have no end goal... I just keep bumping the bar. My eyes are set on the 200 mark for now but I will stop at nothing. I will continue to build this fortress that I once was destroying. I would love to have the opportunity to go into hell head on with my Animal brothers. I respect every last one of you...

I have been working out solo for four years, I currently work 40 hrs a week and on my weekends I put in a total of 70hrs of volunteer ministry work supported by my weekly earnings. I struggle to pay for supplements every month just to gain an ounce of assistance. When I was 17 I bulked from 163 to 185 for football, I then dropped from 185 to 152 for wrestling. I have the drive and work ethic. The following is why I should be chosen to be sponsored by Animal for a 12-week journey through hell:
My Drive
The drive to awaken from an ever needed slumber at 5 am
The drive to show her she is wrong
The drive from this lost stare in the mirror
The drive of a boy who works hard for no reward
The drive of extreme dedication
The drive to eat what others avoid and avoid what others eat
The drive from within fighting to the surface
All leads to the daily drive to the gym
If chosen I will Drive to Hell and back bigger and unscathed.

Why?
Here's why. Two kids, three years, and a career that had held me back for too long. Ready to man up, rebuild my career around lifting, and build my body. I have been breaking out of my cage for the last 6 months, but got a ways to go. HRT can do it for me, and I'll bring it. You help me bend those last bars, and I will bust out, tear UP my gym, track the results, and be an ANIMAL!

Rage, i did shoulders and arms today, is there a different movement i can use other than front bb raise? man it kills my shoulder joints. It feels like they are gonne pop loose. ill keep using them and see if its just from being a new workout or if its something more but id like an option you feel is best.

If it hurts, don't do it brother. Use dumbbells instead. One at a time if you have to.

I'll throw in for consideration on this one.
I've trained a couple of different contests with Rage and have always come out bigger and better on the other side of it. My last show was a year ago and althought I've been making great gains, I know that they could be better.
I love the HRT style of training and now that it's been designed for a Solo lifter, I definitly want in. I'm going to shoot for another show next year and this will be the start of a serious mass adding phase before I choose a show to prove that I can't settle for middle of the pack placing. This contest will set everything into motion for a good clean bulk to get me where I need to be.
Good luck to everyone that enters and follow Rages advice to a T. He does not dissapoint.

Why I want to take the lonely road to hell:
Well to start I'm 23 years old and although I am in decent shape I am nowhere near satisfied. The HRT philosophy seams to be one which I would like to employ to reach my goal of a solid 200lbs at 5'11" (currently 190lb). I am committed, but unfortunately I can't say the same for any of my workout partners leaving me to walk this journey alone. I love how Rage and the whole Animal team are offering to walk alongside us lone wolves as we journey through this hellacious path to the promised land, and would love to be in the running.
My goal is to gain as much lean mass as possible, so I may mix in some morning cardio to help blast off some stored fat but all-in-all the program will be my Bible for the next 12 weeks. If Rage thinks I am worthy, I would be privileged to be able to log my joinery under his wing, but if not I will journey alone and report back to you all.
Thanks and good luck to everyone!
p.s. - add me to the list please

A friend at the gym just gave me a heads up on this HRT solo contest and he said it was the real deal. I would love to be picked to participate in this one. To provide a little background about myself, I've been active in athletics throughout high school and college. I'm 25 now, married, and still not used to having a sport to play all the time. I miss the camraderie and accountability that an athlete gets from his teammates. I'm committed to going to the gym everyday but I've been drifting between a few different workouts. During football I peaked at 210 lbs. but now am right around 180 lbs. mostly due to interval/circuit training that really cut my weight down. I'm careful with my nutrition already but I'm ready to commit to this workout and the right diet to put mass back on the right way.
I'm new to bodybuilding.com so let me know if you need any additional information to apply.

I've been waiting for this oppritunity for years.. I'm a regular on Animalpak's Forum (Flash419), and have been watching Rage develops his HRT system over the last few years. I even got a chance to try it out at the National ABC in Columbus with the man himself. This **** works.. if you wake up the next morning and arent sore as hell.. then you must be DEAD!
I'm currently looking to add some serious size before I start trimming up next summer. It's time to GROW!
I've been training for 25+ years, most of them solo.. I'd love to apply HRT to my current training and take things up a notch. I've been training harder and more consistantly then ever before, thanks to a 24 hour gym. Food is on point, and I've been a hardcore Animal guy for 10+ years, once you find the best.. why change?
It's time to grow.. fun and games are over.. Who wants to go to Hell and come back bigger and stronger then ever?

A little about me:
I'm a 23 year old Sergeant in the US Army. Been in for 5 years and have been maxing the PT Test my entire time in. Came down on recruiting orders a year ago and was told my everyone that I'd be a fat out of shape blob within the 1st year due to PT not being mandatory out here. But hell no, I stay in shape for me, not because the Army requires me to be in shape. I'm now in the best shape of my life and I still have 2 years to sculpt and perfect my body.
Why you should pick me:
I don't quit and I put 100% into anything I do. I'm not in the job of flaking out and only doing the minimum to get the job done. I put my all into it and make magic happen. Whether I get accepted for this or not I'll still be beasting it in the gym, but there's nothing I love more than a challenge. I'm ready for the work, I'm ready for the pain, and I'm ready to push myself to the limits!

OK guys, I have been reading up on Hellcentrics ever since the first post of the team HRT contest and now that I have tried the solo process in the gym some I am ready to jump into this competition. Some info about me, I am 30 married with children with a crazy time demanding job. I still manage to always make it to the gym for my time! I have been in decent shape for some years now but always under strength and overweight. This February I ran my first real program (Starting Strength) and had great strength and mass gains. I ran it solo with only some random spotters my gym from time to time. See signature for a link to my log. Of course I put on a lot of extra weight during that period as well, somewhere close to 40 lbs. I then spent the rest of this year slowly cutting it back off to save the precious muscle I worked so hard for.
This summer and fall I learned a lot about proper nutrition, some of it from Kris Gethin’s 12 week program. I also learned that without a well defined program I am not as dedicated or successful. It has something to do with the fact that knowing what I need to get done in the gym today presents a challenge that MUST be completed. That is why Rage needs to pick me as one of the privileged few that he will help to transform into Jacked Freaks! Now that I have actually gotten down to a low enough body fat to be able to see what I worked so hard for and have the understanding of proper nutrution, I am extremely motivated and looking hard for the next great program. I have the dedication to complete the detail work and videos and would absolutely be thrilled if I had a chance to write some supplement logs for the Animal HRT Stack as I have never taken any of the universal products before.
The biggest thing I am looking forward to is it should be hot enough in Hell to melt away the rest of the extra fat I want to lose and a trip down “The Lonely Road to Hell” sounds like the best and fastest route to get there and come back ripped and jacked to the max.

What makes me an Animal?
One word, Determination. I've been chasing my dreams and achieving my goals to be a bodybuilder alone since day 1. A lot of friends will say they want to train with you and then 2 weeks later they stop calling. The iron has always been an escape for me, when school, life, anything gets stressful I throw in my ear buds and slam some dumbbells while other kids are smoking pot and doing keg stands 5 nights a week. They say a champion is tested the most when they are their weakest, for me that time came a little over a year ago when my little brother passed away at the age of 15 unexpectedly, and in less than 10 hours I was under a bench getting rid of frustration, confusion, anger and pain. That is why I'm an Animal. I didn't post this in hopes of getting sympathy votes or anything if the others are more qualified then they deserve this opportunity. This entry was simply to show that I have what it takes to face hell, because I've faced hell before.

Well, this is relevant to my interests. lol...
Honestly, I don't see the need to type some epic response as an application. I'm a strong dude, and I have vids and pics to prove it (have posted them on the misc before, lulz) and I know how to train and diet. It isn't that hard actually, most people just can't find the motivation to dedicate themselves.
ANYWAY, I will be graduating college in a couple of weeks and moving for work, hence losing all of my training partners. The bad part is just that; I won't have any training partners. The good part is that I will FINALLY have the time and money to get as serious as I want to about training.
3x body weight DL: yep
400+ squat at around 177: light weight buddyyyyy
I'm looking forward to seeing how much progress I can make. The sky is the limit cuzzz

It's not The size of the animal in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the animal.
I'm nowhere close to the average guy on this forum. I've spent my whole life in the shadows; Overshadowed by my obesity as a youth and by my drive for academic success. I've always been the chunky geek in the back of the room, the one that was picked on and the kid who got laughed in the face. I always told myself that my time will come, and it finally has. I gained the courage to finally join the gym. I went to the gym and I changed my diet completely. I am now the healthiest and most fit I have ever been but I am nowhere close to where I want to be. I have the courage and heart to brave HRT and to be an example to all about what changes can happen by using animal products and animal training. The animal in this fight is small now, but through the guiding hands of Rage and the animal team I will prove that Animal is the best there is

Why am I an animal? Simple, I get **** done no excuses. I've been participating in sports as far back as I can remember, and when I started lifting at the age of 14 I was hooked. Until recently I never cared about strength development or size, as long as I had killer abs and functional fitness I was happy. Then when I was studying to be a personal trainer and looked in the mirror I decided it was time to pack on some size. After extensive research, both scientific and anecdotal, I have started really pursuing body building about 10 weeks ago. I've gone from 155lbs to 186, and still have a long way to go. I love the challenge I get from the hell raiser training program, not only am I gaining weight but I'm also gaining strength at an amazing rate. It's a feeling like no other and I cant wait to see how far I can progress in the full 12 weeks. If my shrugs can go from 205lbs the first week to 255lbs the second, while maintaining proper form, then I cant wait to compare my week one workout sheets with my week 12 workout results! I leave it all in the gym, and often have to recruit whoever is in the gym to help me pump out my hellcentrics. I leave it all in the gym every day, if I dont feel like I've gone hard enough I'll continue until the tank is completely emptied. This program will be known for getting me huge, going to be a completely different person in only 3 months.

I can't wait to see who gets to be part of this epic adventure!
Hey I have a question for all of you guys who have been running this for a while. Do people run up to you and try to spot to you while you are performing those super slow negatives? I could just see some guy running up "I got ya Bro!" and jerking the weight up to rack it.

A little background info:
I first started lifting my senior year in high school. I was trying out for football, and they required you to lift while logging your progress. I soon realized that I loved doing the exercises and that doing them made me feel better about myself. After about two months, though, I had to stop playing due to my job. I needed the money so I had to make time to do my job by leaving the team. Once I graduated, I felt the need to start back up again and hit the weights. I never could stick with it though... Before I knew it, another year had passed. I was married and living in a new place. I had just moved out of my parents' house, and was starting a new life. I had a new house, lived in a different city, and was making new friends. But, I was still the skinny guy no matter where I went. So with determination and a set goal of gaining healthy weight I started my journey. There have been many bumps along the road; however, I've stood strong and still wake up every morning hitting the weights. My goal is obviously to be fit, and gain until I weigh about 170lbs, all the while maintaining a relatively low BF%. From when I first started til now I have gained 25lbs. I was at a very unhealthy weight for my size and age. I weighed 120lbs when I first started. With the help of new friends at the gym and supplementation I gained a healthy 25lbs.
Now, as I stated, supplementation did play a good part in my weight gain. My first preworkout was Shock Therapy. Never having had one before, I went with this one based on the reviews I'd read online. It was low priced with lots of servings. I thought I couldn't go wrong with that, plus a good product rating. I didn't know how right I was until I got the product. It tasted amazing and mixed very well. Not only that, but I felt like I was on top of my game when I took it. This got me hooked on preworkouts. Since it worked so well, I bought Storm to go with it. STorm worked pretty well, too, but I left it sitting out, and it got ruined... Anyway, a year later, I got the Animal M-Stak. It's what really helped me pack on the pounds. It made me able to eat more. I'm not sure why, but whatever was in it made me hungry all the time, which was good. With this I gained to where I am now.
What makes me an Animal is the strong desire I have to hit the weights and obtain my goal. It's a long, hard road but I am more than willing to do what I can to achieve my goals. My current goal is to weigh around 160lbs by the summer. I know Animal will help me succeed greatly in this area and more. I also witnessed the greatness of my fellow Animals when I went to The Arnold Classic this year to witness "The Cage" event. You guys were going crazy on those deadlifts before the main bench press event.
I should be chosen because I am an animal, and I will put in the effort and hard work needed to achieve my goals. I am not stubborn, and I'm willing to listen to my fellow animals and take advice to achieve my goals. As well as offer up what advice I can to help them. I have been a member on these boards for awhile. With my post count almost reaching 1000 you can tell I am an active member of this community. I will not let you down, and I will keep you posted with my progress on my log. Just let me know exactly what you want of my log and I will go into detail with it all. I am in perfect health right now with no known health problems. I'm not allergic to anything and rarely get sick. I also have a really nice video camera, so I can promise good quality videos. I'm not used to doing videos of myself, but I am comfortable and more than willing. You will get everything needed from me including a detailed description in my logs of my diet, supplementation, and training. I'm not just in it to win it; I'm in it for me, and the boost of help to achieve my own goals and transformation. Help me to become a true Animal and own the iron... Trust me I am defiantly f*ckin' jacked about all this.

Am curious about how this 12 week challenge will change your lives? Obviously I would have to say that the Animal instinct is deep within this crowd, not to mention some of our stories are extraordinary, but what will this bring to your future? Is this going to get you to the next level with your training to step on the stage, is this going to get you that sponsorship you are coveting, or is this going to give you relief from the temporary insanity that is our world.
My aim is to change everything. To take myself to the next level of training. To reinvent myself again. To change within and to keep my sanity.. PTSD is a real bi**h and the iron is what keeps the anger away.. I'm eager to see your answers.... Good luck..

As I lay here thinking about the 12 week challenge and read and re- read the original post on what Animal is looking for I realize in no way did I confirm to them why they shouldn't over look me. Yeah I have a chip on my shoulder, more like a fire I'm not lookin to put out any time soon that pushes me forward but we all have something that does it for
r us or we wouldn't all be here, ready to feast on the iron like we never have before. I can log, journal, video, take the pictures and be molded by the animal team flawlessly. Why ? Each rep, each set that i dont think i can do but I do replaces a part of me that was lost as i was victimized for days . Everytime i feel my power and life coming back to me i know i can teach someone else how to get it back too . I dont train to be a model, to talk ****, make money or to look cool . I train so i can humbly help daughters, sons, mothers... take the road less traveled after abuse and find in them again what was wrongfullytaken. I can do what it takes, learn from the best to be the best . Just as many have said, picked or not there wont only be five who start treckin to Hell

I am an artist, my body is my canvass and the iron is my paint brush. Shakespeare once said, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.” I was not born great at all, and was never thrust upon it. I remember growing up and being the fat kid. I was never into sports, and always into food. When I was 21 years old I reached rock bottom at 250 lbs. That is when I decided that only I had the power to change my life, to change my habits, and to change my future. I started running, then started lifting weights, and eventually ended up at Young Tigers Foundation in Miami Florida and American Top Team as an MMA fighter.
Today I leave the gloves for special occasions and dream about the iron. I have come a long way from the person I once was, and everything I left behind drives me to work harder than the next man. Exercise and nutrition surround my entire life today, what was once my enemy is now my passion. I am currently an undergrad studying Nutrition Science; I breathe nutrition every moment of my life. By early next year I plan to be personal trainer certified and help others walk the road that I travel.
Why should I be chosen? As I stated earlier, I was not born into greatness, my story is one of success through sheer drive and determination, through the will and desire of a man with a purpose. I strive to achieve greatness every time I enter those glass double doors in my gym, and begin to feel the adrenalin surge through my veins when my hands come into contact with the cold steel. I push to failure with every set, and push until I become an animal, and on a comical note, sometimes I make faces that make me look like an animal too.
Eating clean is part of my life and not just something I do on a program. I work hard in order to afford the proper supplementation and food that this sport requires. Now all I need is the proper training in order to propel me beyond anything I ever imagined I would achieve. HRT is that pathway that I have been searching for and if chosen I am positive that my determination to achieve greatness will bleed into this program like an animal from hell.
I want this bad. I circulate my entire schedule around my training. I specifically choose all my classes in the morning so that I can train at the gym in the afternoon. I then only make myself available for work after 5 pm. What is a day in my shoes like? I wake up at 8:00 am to go to school and finally get out of classes at 12:00 pm. Of course I take meals which I eat throughout the day. Everyone always wonders why I always carry around a lunch box and a Gallon of water. I then proceed home where I have my next meal, my pre-workout supplements and arrive at the gym around 1:00 pm. I typically train until about 3:00-3:30 and then head back home, shower, prepare more meals, and finally arrive to work at 5:00 pm. I usually work until either 10:00 or 11:00 pm and head to the gym once again for a late night cardio session. Then it is back home at 12:00 am when I finally get to take off my socks, shower, and relax, getting ready to do this all over again the next morning. If that is not dedication I don't know what is. As I stated, everything in my schedule circulates around my training.
This contest is my chance to finally test myself out in competition against other people. Ever since I became fascinated with the sport of bodybuilding I have dreamt of competition, and this is my chance to begin a journey which will result in many chapters throughout my life. If I am chosen I will not disappoint anyone, my progress will inspire others, and I promise to leave my soul behind the iron in every single workout.

One last thing I would like to mention before decisions are made. I have something great going for me that others may not have. What is that you may ask? Simple, a great and wonderful woman by my side who is there to support me every step of the way. She helps me with my meal preparations when Im cooking 2 dozen fish fillets at a time, 2 dozen chicken breasts, 5 lbs of ground turkey and enough brown rice to feed an army. She is there to massage my sore body when I feel as tight as a knuckled fist from the workout the day before. She is there to help me shave those hard to reach places I cannot seem to reach myself like my back, and even lends me her car when I don't have enough money for gas to get to the gym.
She will be there all the way through this contest, helping me with my video blogs, helping me take pictures, and helping me cook my food. She was there with me when my stomach resembled an inflated balloon, and here with me now that it looks like a turtle shell. She supports me every step of the way and is completely understanding when I make sacrifices in order to one day compete in the sport that has swallowed me alive like Jonahs whale. While others go drinking and partying on Saturday night, she understands I have to be in bed early so that I may wake up for an early day at the gym.
In the end of the day this is a solo contest, it is me against the iron, and more evidently it is me against me in the gym, when my body and mind scream quit and I then push even harder and further than before. But her support is what sets me apart. After all, behind every strong king their has been an even stronger queen.
Good luck to everyone. And Thank you guys over at Animal for creating a contest like this to help inspire us into greatness.

Yeah I was thinking the same exact thing. It would be kinda pointless to start training only to receive supplements 2 weeks into the program. Regardless I get paid this Friday and in my BB.com shopping cart already have a few things picked out in case I get selected including.
- Universal HRT Stack (Universal Animal Flex, Universal Animal Pak, Universal Animal Rage, Universal Creatine)
- Universal Real Gains (10 lbs)
- Universal Glutamine
- Universal Atomic 7
Among other things of course. I do believe they mention what we are supplied with is just the animal pak right?
I will be on Universal supplements all the way if chosen!
I speculate when they say it starts December 1st it is in reference to when the Animal crew begins to get in contact with the chosen contestants and preparations are made. It just makes more sense that the split would start on a Monday and supplements are mailed out first. On a good note, I have the day off so I can stay updated on the "que pasa" with the competition. Regardless I have the bodybuilding.com app on my Android phone :)

Ill be able to make video footage/keep a log and everything you guys need to me to do in this contest. If I get picked I gurantee some brutality, and of course some of you know im updating my youtube soon, ill update it with the content for this hrt contest!
And man, imagine me training with Rage, CAUGHT ON VIDEO ASWELL!! That would be some intense footage! Goosebumps already!
Deadline is 12 midnight EST this evening. So if there is anybody late to the party or who has been dragging their feet, now is the time to get your entry in... We're coming down to the wire.

I remember way back, growing up in my hometown. The road less traveled was where I was bound. Lifting and my life had never been a contradiction; it was more of an addiction paired with my ambition. You could say that it was the perfect situation.
It had been years on that road but I persevered through the blood, sweat and tears on that road. I could hear it in my soul so I stayed dedicated. This dream was hard enough to chase so you can keep your liquor. That buzz wouldn’t help me progress any quicker. This burning desire would have required the whole fire department to extinguish my fire. See my lifts a year ago, I’d say my improvements drastic.
However, my fire slowly began to die down this semester at school. I had left what I needed for what I temporarily wanted.
"Michigan State University will no longer be considered for our annual list of party schools because we feel it is unfair to include professionals on a list of amateurs." –Playboy.
The party atmosphere isn’t always what it seems; in reality the liquor was a pistol. Unfortunately I traded my dreams and my potential to escape through that buzz. A month of this, I’m in the same place, no progress made, feeling like a failure… it’s not conducive to becoming an Animal.
Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward. I am my maker and when I’m older, I’ll be more disappointed by what I didn’t do than by what I did. It’s time to drop the waste that weighs me down.
I was up in heaven for a second but I fell to hell after. My dreams are hard enough to chase so you can keep your liquor. Even addicts can’t **** with the speed I’m about to exceed. This isn’t limitless, this isn’t even Adderall, this initiative is all natural. Fueled by the motive to sip on life and drink my dreams. The downfalls I encounter sculpt the person that I am today. These enlightening experiences will only help me implement more efficient protocols to achieve my goal.
Completing this cycle, I’m finally leaving what I temporarily wanted for what I needed. It’s time to drop the waste that weighs me down cause this just isn’t working. The lonely road to hell is where I’m headed, cause where I’m coming from is a place of no return.

It's about time for this thing to kick off! For everyone participating just remember some wise words by Maynard James Keenan "Pain is an Illusion". Keep safe and don't hurt yourselves and lets use this as an opportunity to prove something.. that no matter how hard we might be sucking for the next 12 weeks we're going to persevere, fight through it, kick our bodys in the ass, and remind ourselves that even though we might call ourselves human... we're still just Animals craving the same thirst as every other Animal in the forest... To be the baddest MFers on the Totem Pole. Good luck to all of you!

Very difficult to pick and choose from this crew. I hope those that weren't picked here are fired up and motivated to do big things, and maybe solo HRT can be a part of that reckoning.
Respect to all of those who have congratulated the chosen group, that is true sportsmanship.

I'm done with this period of HRT. I really like it, i reccomend it to everybody for a good change to your workout routine. It's hard and painful but It will pack that mass you want. It's something your body isn't used too, so the surprise effect is there.
But one thing's for sure, it'll be worth it.
Let’s face it, you’re not going to turn down more size if you can get it now are you? If you just happen to add an inch onto your arms, are you going to sit back and regret it? **** no. You’re in the gym busting your ass for a reason. You want results. You expect results.

I'm in your corner. It's up to you if and how you want to use my guidance. This is optional. I can provide you with both nutritional guidance and adjustments on a weekly basis that will help you in your transformation. The first thing I will need is some general information as I have listed below next to your names. When I see that you have filled it in, I will make my recommendations. Make your updates every Monday starting this upcoming Monday December 5th.
What is not optional is that you will need to provide a link next to your names to your before pics. Get these listed by Monday December 5th. Front, back and side relaxed. Use a current newspaper for date verification in your front relaxed but hold it far enough away so that I we can get a look at your starting point.
For now, I want you to provide all of your updates in this thread.

Yea I am starting a log just to keep myself motivated and Squirrel and I are going to share things that work and motivation while we are both here in Afghanistan. Since we both understand the barriers to working out over here, I think it will help to have someone who gets what this place is all about and trying to do HRT.
I can't get a picture here yet, but as soon as I can I will. But I will still keep the log and work my ass off.
I posted my start pics and weight in my log. I was 214.5lbs last night but got very sick from food poisoning last night and this morning weighed 208.5lbs. So i went with 208.5 as my offical weight.

Before and After Pics: You’ll need to start your thread with “before” pics (front, back and side w/ the newspaper of the day). At the immediate end of the 12 weeks, you’ll post pics (front, back and side w/ the newspaper of the day) to display your progress over the length of the program. These will constitute your “after” pics.
Thread Maintenance: The better your thread, the better your chances. Keep your thread alive and populated. Provide detailed training logs. Add pictures. Blog your observations, ideas, comments, feedback. Tell stories about the process. Document your diet and supplementation. Post frequently. Daily posting is encouraged and preferred.
Weekly Video Updates: These are crucial. Training footage, confessional, meal prep, whatever. Make it interesting. Do your best to encapsulate your HRT journey.
Progress Monitoring: Rage has requested your beginning weight with a weekly update (same day and time each week, ideally). You’ll also want to keep a tally of weight loss or gain from week to week and overall. You’ll also track your daily protein and carbohydrate intake and your appetite from 1 (poor) to 10 (starving).
All participating should already have contacted info@animalpak.com with their pertinent information, so as to receive their Animal supplement care package, containing the HRT Stack. If you have not already made contact, please do so immediately.

Falling out isn't an option for any of these guys. Their words/stories they wrote speak highly of the caliber of Animal they are. I'm sure I won't have to eat my words.

I'm in it until the end no question. I have my eye on the prize however I'm in this with some quality guys who know their sh*t so I won't be disappointed with the outcome. This journey is mainly about me challenging myself and hopefully will put on some mass so I can compete in my first show sometime in the future.

I am right the Hell there with you. Have 3 finals next week. At least hitting the gym is a good way to break up the studying...
