I will be participating in the 2011 urbanathlon next weekend in Chicago Illinois and have a few questions about my workouts prior to the event. The event is being held on Saturday Oct 15 at 7:45 am. I will b running 3-3.25 mile "legs" is what they are called. I have 7 obstacle courses between those 9.75 miles. I have been running for the past 5 weeks and am on track to achieve the finish line. Now my question is do I lift on Thursday and Friday before the event, or do I just rest my muscles so I can be 100% on Saturday morning? Any help/advice would b greatly appreciated.

I had been thinking of training for that, but don't have the cash to travel right now. I'd say take two days off prior to the invent, you won't gain any added endurance. for one, you can get an injury, two, you don't want to be sore prior to this event. you either are in condition or not. good luck

thanks brotha, i was thinking the same thing about getting hurt and/or being sore. Guess i was right!
Thanks again.

On another note, they have an urbanathlon event in San Francisco on 11/13. You could do that since its in your home state and wouldnt have to travel that far if at all. check out menshealth.com/urbanatlon
