Idk really. Wherever my genetics/ training, discipline, and diet will take me. If I could reach pbateman status it would be legit!! I don't like comparing with others though, as genetics of detailed things like ab shape, shoulder structure ect can make two similar stat physiques look totally different. Jmo though. :)

Haha, SOME truth to that (as I want to be a stronger cyclist), except at my height I would have to be ~155 pounds to have a true cyclist physique. With zero muscle in my upper body. See: Andy Schleck.

I would say 190 would be on the very upper range. But id say he has at least 10 lbs of muscle on me and an inch. So at comparable bf% that would put him around 185 or so. But my reasoning has a lot of assumptions that I'm unsure about

I've always wondered where my genetic potential is. Considering my height most put me at 175ish lbm. But in 1.5 years of training and only seriously training for the last ten months or so, I sit around 160 lbm. I find it hard to believe that I could be that close in that timeframe of training. I'll try this calculator when I get home, but it always leads me into a weird quandary of what can be realistic expectations of muscle gain. If someone has any further readings id be curious to see articles or just thoughts on it. In the end, it won't matter or change how I train, eat, etc. Just more of something I'm curious about.

I don't particularly like Greg Plitt's physique. It just doesn't have what I think is ideal for myself. I think Layne Norton is close to my ideal physique:

I can only really speak for myself here (this would be a good topic for you to ask in the female misc section if you'd like). I admire the dedication and will power people put into bodybuilding and going beyond just your "ripped" status - but I prefer the toned, a little naturally lean look. Plitt vs Phil Heath, let's say. I respect Heath but I don't find his physique as attractive as I would Plitt's. I'm a fairly short individual myself, i'd prefer someone within my range. (Boyfriend is 5'7, doesnotevenlift but he's naturally lean, looks good)

I think Plitt's physique is attainable naturally.
Aside from the occasional freak like Martin Daniels or Doug Miller, most of the natty pros in that thread weigh under 190
My point was that most of the physiques posted in this thread have been genetically gifted, pharmaceutically enhanced, or both.

That's the method behind the calculator. I didn't post it to say I worship it at an altar, it's just a tool to get one rough idea for what is likely for the natty lifter. It shows on there that the golden age BB champs of the past (including Reg Park, for the other poster) didn't even reach the highest limit determined by the calculator...still amazing, still huge. Like you said, you still train to kill it every time...some guys (not you) just take stuff like this too personal.

He looks pretty damn close to Eric Helms actually, who is 6'0" and around 178-179 here, but your pic appears to be leaner and slightly bigger (that could be a leanness factor though) ... Anyway, not comparable if they aren't the same height and every one has different muscle bellies/tie in.s
At any rate, shoot for ~175-180 for that physique.

Title is fine. "Ideal" is the conception of what is perfect. Your ideal physique = your conception of a perfect physique.
"Your" is possessive and leads me to believe that.....

I don't really know. Having a fixed thought of the physique that I want to be seems to get me nowhere and is just useless (it doesn't motivate nor it does demotivate me)
Same here.
I am just going to push my body as hard as I can and see where I end up.
Will be happy with the end result regardless of what it looks like.

My ideal physique when I started was always to be look similar to that zyzz character, this was efore he was even around. without having to juice.
I am pretty much there now just with bigger legs. Although after I get back down to 10% like in my avi (@ 12% now) I would like to shred down even further with the help of that EC drug to 5-6% and hang there for a while to further lower my set point. From 13-14% to 10%.

@ all:
I was wondering if all these physiques were always what you have been striving for, or does this change along the way? When you start lifting your view on realistic results is different than when you're a few months/years on the road.. and your goal can also change of course.

Your idea of physiques changes as you progress and as you become more immersed. It starts to create a somewhat unreal expectation of physique. What I consider ideal, most people consider a freak, and what I consider meh, most people consider ripped. As long as you keep this in mind so that you don't create an unhealthy relationship with your body image, then it is actually a great motivator - always wanting to be bigger, stronger, leaner, etc.
With most of these physiques, people realize they aren't necessarily obtainable without enhancers and even then the difference in body construction will still create a difference in physique. They are just our idealized version of perfection. Expecting perfection is foolish, pursuing perfection is noble, imo.

Lvisaa you mind laying off the wise anecdotes and deep insight lately? I've been trying to rep you for days but I seem to be on spread more often than not!
Totally agree on how the image of our ideal physique develops as we progress. I once thought there was a weight or body fat goal where I'd be able to say with confidence: "I'm content", but before I even near, (net alone achieve nor surpass) the finishing line has already shifted. None the less, I'm thankful there's something new to strive for and if I ever find myself knocking on every skinny teens second biggest fear (first being losing their abs, the seconds being too bulky...), my goals would simply change: strength, conditioning etc. I'm even working on a human flag at the moment!...

Couldn't agree more. When you first start out you just want to get in shape, maybe get a six pack. As you get into it though, and especially after being on these boards, you want to take your physique to another level.
You do have to realize though that what when you think you have put on too much fat and look disgusting, the general public probably still thinks you look great. You're perception of what's attractive and ideal gets skewed a lot after immersing yourself in training for a while.

I started lifting after watching Dorian Yates win the 1997 Olympia, it was on ESPN or something, I ran out and bought a bench and some weights that week. I wanted to look like a monster.

Of course. I started to work out to spot reduce my man boobs (strong broscience). I though Arnold was an absolute beast in Terminator 2. Then I started seeing the IFBB pros.
I used to want a six pack. Now, I want to be mistake for an anatomy chart, while being big enough to block out the sun with my cannonball shoulders and lats/batwings.
