Discuss. FWIW, I predict at least some fearmongers will comment about mercury.

I've never gotten a flu shot, and haven't had the flu in nearly 10 years. Plus, I HATE needles. I'm "NOT" getting one.

If I get it, then I can't miss work for a week. I did just get my DTap though.

If my wife and everyone else at work gets one, why should I? Not like I'll be exposed

Last time I was super sick was immediately after getting a flu shot about 2 years ago, I was in bed for almost a full week. The association makes me not get another one, despite knowing that's a stupid deduction.
Further, I am just now getting over a wicked illness of some sort that is taking almost 2 weeks to clear up. So I figure I'm paid up for this round :).

Yeah, as I'm sure you already know, flu shots are meant to raise your antibodies. It's rare to feel that sick, but feeling SOME nausea is normal 1-2 days following the shot.
I get one pretty much every year.

Oh I'm aware. I also know that having to step with my right foot first onto any changed floor texture is compulsive, but here we are :).

Pretty sure it was fake. She was magically "cured" a few months later, or something. At best, they would say her symptoms were probably completely psychological.

Yep I'll be getting one, but I work with addicts who always seem to have some sort of illness, better safe then sorry.
My wife is the one who believes getting the shot gives u the flu. I have explained to her that this is not true. She still won't be getting one.

Only got them when I was young, haven't had the flu for years though so won't be spending money on one anytime soon. Do people honestly not get them due to conspiracy theory? Fukking lol.

Hey, I believe science holds the key to most of the answers in life, but that flu shot? Trust no one.

doesn't the selenium in tuna detoxify the merc?
or is that broscience..

Whether diets high in selenium protect against the risks associated with methylmercury (MeHg) is not yet clear. A recent (2009) review of this topic noted that while there is evidence from both in vitro studies and experiments in animals that supports the concept that selenium may protect against toxic effects of MeHg, it is unclear whether these findings are relevant to selenium intake and mercury exposure in humans. See, Fish, Mercury, Selenium and Cardiovascular Risk: Current Evidence and Unanswered Questions. Dariush Mozaffarian. Int J Environ Res Public Health. 2009 June; 6(6): 1894–1916. I haven't had a shot since I was 9 or 10. I've been fine since then.
