I posted this in the female section, but this would probably be a better place.

I was wondering if this site has a list of contest coaches and trainers, somewhere where potential clients can see the track record and qualifications of trainers. I know that some people say they are trainers on their BodySpace, or in their signature, but I was wondering if there's any kind of official list.
If there's no such thing, would anybody be interested in this? Maybe the mods can make a sticky? Or am I just crazy and should shut up? :)

most popular are 3DMJ: www.3dmusclejourney.com , www.prepbyalex.com/ or Layne Norton www.biolayne.com

I'm with 3DMJ and I can't give them as much kudos as they deserve. The other two are just as good from what I have seen and heard.

Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate!
Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about "long distance" coaching? How do you practice posing, for example, without somebody actually there with you giving you pointers? Or do you feel you can get enough from just pictures? I always envisioned an actual trainer you see in person regularly, but I guess that's not necessarily how it works?

Totally agree. I'm not even a current client of 3DMJ or Layne, and I have never been (I might look into 3DMJ's offseason program)... but these are the first two training/prep sources I mention when this topic comes up in conversation. :)

Having only worked with Layne Norton, he's the only one I can really comment on. I worked with Layne for 6 months on just the diet/nutrition side of training, he was a pleasure to work with and i got great results. I will use him again. As far as the long distance side of things, i don't think its a problem as long as you are highly self motivated and do the work that is recommended by your coach.

I just renewed for my third year with Layne... that about says enough IMO :) I worked with another coach here locally before I met Layne - and being able to have face time with someone did not make for a better experience. If I do decide to leave Layne down the road - it would only be to go it alone, not for another coach :)

Thank you for your very interesting post, especially when you say that working with a coach in person wasn't better than working long distance. Can I ask you if you think that'd be true also for someone who's never ever ever done a competition before, or do you think that's got nothing to do with anything?

I used someone local for my first show and to me it makes no difference - what really matters is who the coach is and how well you align with each other.
