I think I might have found my problem. Splenda!

My 4yo loves brocolli and it makes him fart and bloat like a tailgater.....So it might be the brocolli....

I think I might have found my problem. Splenda! How does splenda cause bloat? I eat buckets of the stuff and never bloat.

Ive been looking around a lot at it and kind of realized i didnt have the problem until i started using bucket loads myself. I switched from stevia to splenda because my coach uses it like crack haha but he is superhuman. Sooo..I guess everyone is different. Im trying green beans all day today instead of broc and tomorrow I will try out a splenda free (boooooo) day and see.

Are you sure its not sugar alcohols you are eating? I never bloat from splenda but sugar alcohols make me bloat (and have gas). Embarrassing but true.

Anything with an "itol" at the end of the ingredient. Maltitol, Xylitol, Sorbitol, Erythritol...sugar alcohols are found in sugar-free gum, many "low-carb" protein bars and many other food products labeled "low-carb" but are sweet.

Here's some additional info on sugar alcohols: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/sugaralcohols.htm

Notice the paragraph that states:
"Can sugar alcohols cause problems?

Though the word "alcohol" is part of their name, they cannot get you drunk. But because they are not completely absorbed, they can ferment in the intestines and cause bloating, gas, or diarrhea. People can have different reactions to different sugar alcohols. Careful experimentation is advised."

It could be the splenda. I would try cutting that out and see how that goes and then maybe you might need to cut out something else as well. I know that I had a prep coach mention the lately she has seen artificial sweeteners cause a lot of problems for her clients and is starting to rethink artificial sweeteners effect during prep especially. Can't hurt to try that anyways. Keep us posted on how that works for you!!!
