You can skip to the "MY question" part if you don’t want the back story.

Ok... so I was a marathon runner. I ate what I want, lifted when I felt like it, and had a great body. I stopped all of this when I was 22.(27 now) I hurt my shoulder about 5 years ago, and I stopped running, and lifting. I Ballooned up about 30-40 pounds. That happened in about 4 months.... I gained that weight almost instantly it seemed.

So... about a year ago I started lifting, and attempting to run. I became painfully aware that running is a lot less fun when you are out of shape. It is much easier to think to yourself "F this, I am done!" I have been lifting for about a year, but I am not losing any weight. I haven’t been doing much cardio which I realize is not good for my goals... so as of last Wednesday I have been doing sprints, whenever my legs aren’t sore.

I have decided it is definitely my diet. I don’t have one. I hate eating. It annoys me that I have to take time out of my day to think about what I want. I eat SIMPLY to fuel my body. My philosophy over my lifetime has always been, eat until I am stuffed, so I don’t have to think about it at all. Working out daily is not a hard task for me, but I look fatter than I did a year ago.

Every diet I have ever attempted has failed because it requires too much of my thought process to plan it out.

MY QUESTION:

I need hints. I need tips. Is there an app that tells you something healthy to eat? Maybe put in goals, and it plans the week out for you? It is the choices I hate.... maybe there are little "health packs" you can buy for meals?

I also hate to cook. Unhealthy food and unhealthy amounts usually win because it takes less time.

Cognitively, I want to diet. but when I think about food I lose interest. Does my question make any sense? I want to diet. I just to plan a way to set myself up to succeed.

I am 211 lbs, 6 ft 1 in
36 Waist

Well, you can either mindlessly eat and get fatter and fatter every year, or you can start taking an interest in your body and your health and put in some effort into taking care of yourself. (ie planning and cooking food)

Oh, and read the stickies. Good luck. :)

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Read the stickies. Calculate your caloric requirements based on your goals. Calculate your protein and fat targets. Compose a diet based on the foods you like and make it so it is mostly whole, minimally processed. Keep it simple.

Find a website like Fitday.com and record what you eat. Hit those calorie, fat and protein targets everyday and profit.

A small calorie deficit will help you lose weight.

Stop complicating matters.

Losing weight simply requires eating less than you burn.

If you're weight stable currently (neither gaining nor losing weight), reduce the amount that you eat by 10% to 20%.

Straight calories? All of the stickies talk about macros ?

I use myfitnesspal and love it! They have an app for iphones and androids. It saves your foods so its really convenient and simple. If you dont like cooking what you could do is take one day a week to cook a bunch of food and freeze it. That way you only spend a small amount of time out of your week on food.
