I lost 4 friends on 9/11. One was very close to me ( a guy on teh first plane). This time of year bums me out and probably will for life. I watch the footage every year to remind myself. I always die inside. :(

sorry my friend. my hometown lost 30. my brother decided to work from home that day, else he'd be gone.
one of the eeriest, somber moments of my life was driving on the throgs neck bridge about a week later. la guardia airport was still shut down....no commercial aircraft in sight. the smoke/steam plume from ground zero was visible off to my right, as 2 fighter jets circled.
nie immer wieder.

Rob,
I am not sure if this is appropriate for your thread. If its not PM and I will delete.
I always kind of felt sorry for the good people of the world who have to endure this kind of pain and grief and rage with no ability to lash out (even if futilely).
Sometimes, I also envy them.
All in all, though, I prefer where I was standing on 9/11.

I will never forget 9/11. Ever. No words of mine strewn together can ever fully do justice to all those who perished, nor can I adequately even find the words to make such a feeble attempt.
Some friends of mine have a band called Shilelagh Law. A while back they did their own tribute, and this is deserving to be posted here.

Always a sad time of year indeed. My high school lost 1 alumni on the 2nd plane.(brother of an acquaintanece) It makes me extremly upset about the Police and especially the Fire Dept. people lost that day.(To think in 2000 i was i was going to apply but found out i would miss the age cut off by a couple months.)

I lost several friends that day Rob so I know how you feel, depression and fear crippled me the first few years after that. I don't talk much about it because I was there two blocks away when it happened with my son Joey who was 1 at the time, and some other family members. It's a very difficult day for me and honestly what gets me through now is because my youngest son was born on Sept. 10, and planning for his birthday each year keeps my mind occupied.

Oh man, that's rough. I know I still get teary-eyed watching old clips...and I didn't even know anybody that perished on that fateful day. Watching clips is painful, but I feel it's important that folks don't forget that day...or the innocent lives that were taken from their families. Sorry for your losses. *weep*

Sometime after 9/11 I was asked by two firefighters if I can postpone my scheduled masonry jobs and take on one of theirs.
It was for a woman that her firefighter husband died in one of the towers, she was on suicide watch. She would ask me to please leave and I would say sorry but I don't work for you. I worked there for some time. To make this short, she's doing much better today and we are friends.

My roommate & I worked for Air Canada (I still do) and were off that day when everything went down.... when we saw what was happening we drove in to work to see if we could lend a hand.
Eeriest feeling ever walking around the gates and on the apron (I was a baggage handler back then) with all the planes lined up parked and none coming in or taking off. It was totally silent. Never forget it.
Sad, sad day. :(
Prayers to the families and friends who are still dealing with their losses.

Totally tragic.
It is right that you remember your friends even though it hurts.

I can't watch videos of the Twin Towers and those planes. It was, and still is a hellish, nightmare scenario. I am amazed, while hundreds, if not thousands were running out of those buildings to save their lives, there were those who were running in. It moves me. These were, and are true heros.
