I've slowly fixed several things on my own, but i know i am ways away from perfect. Any advice would be appreciated.. and yes i look like a dork jumping at the top, this was just a lot of progress for me

Looks pretty good!! You are pulling the bar around the knees somewhat coming off the floor. Try and push with your legs and force the knees back. I'm pretty sure that's what's causing you to jump forward when you rack the bar. Also, try and extend more at the top of the second pull!!
Good work!! These are minor details to work on!!

okay, that makes sense, and probably why my shins look FUBAR. I feel like i'm still pulling with my arms though, it's like i'm fighting against my natural instinct when i try to shrug instead of curl.

Looks good man, your issues lie in the top of the pull... you don't finish as well as you could and jump forward (most likely a by-product of not finishing).
So, as you're pulling the bar up:
- be more patient
- stay on the heels
- when the bar brushes the thighs extend and shrug hard straight up (you can even think about going a little backwards)
also, put some weight on the bar! looks too light for you

hei.. thats awesome advice. Imo you should start with the pulls as well, cuz pulls usually fix these issues.. :P
you can also pull from block, you cover the bar with your shoulder, keep the back at the same angle and wuala over time your body adopts this, your lower back gets stronger and your legs will start working properly. I know its hard to get the knees and shins out from the way in the beginning!
good luck :3

Looks pretty good. The main thing I noticed is how deep your initial stance is. Since the pull off the floor is just a pull and doesn't involve a stretch reflex (like at the bottom of the squat), there's nothing gained from being that low to start. Your stance at 0:10 will be much more helpful when it gets heavy, as long as you keep your lower back tight.

* Elbows over bar.
* Bar over midfoot.

i am trying to use nothing but legs and back, as i have the habit of pulling with my arms and pulling too early. i focus on the full extension, then shrugging the bar. i am still not fully extending after watching this.

hmm.. i dont c the point of hung cleans. but you should start doing clean pulls. They are the main exercise to get your body work in a right way! :)
