View Full Version : Keep Cutting? Bulk? IDKWTF!!!

Okay so I understand the difference I believe. I want to have more defined cuts but not too extreme. I aspire to the bikini fitness body type. Right now I am 5'4" and 140 lbs down from 163lbs. I obviously can see the changes but still working on the stomach, side, and back fat (diet I know I know). The dilemma I guess is that I like curves and a bit of thickness (especially on my bottom half) and I know as I continue to lose I will lose from their first. But if I try to gain to build more muscle I feel like the gain will go to my midsection. I understand that diet is major for me because that is what attributes to belly fat. As you see in my progress pics I lost 15 inches off of my waist which is great but what is left is like aaarrrggghh!! So at this point I don't know which direction go. keep cutting? bulk then cut? I love my curves but at the end of the day I never want a stomach like what I had again! Thanks for your feedback BB family.

Wow, you look great. What a transformation and in such a relatively short time... how'd you do it? Curious minds ....

Anyway, if it were me, I'd just opt to maintain. Seriously. I mean, just keep lifting heavy and eating at maintenance. You'll slowly recomp, but shouldn't lose any curves.

Others will probably have more useful opinions :)

YAAaYY! thanks! HIIT mostly, weights, BB.com (wonderful people like you sharing), cycles of Oxyelite Pro-that petty much did it. Oh also my determination to not leave the house until I worked out unless I was doing sprints outside.

Bikini/fitness body and curves don't really mesh very well. Unless you go for curves off season and the leaner physique for comps.

What I'd do is take a diet break, eat at maintenance, and recomp for awhile. How long is up to you. Then restart the diet to lean out more. You'd like to get close to bikini bf level, evaluate what needs work, and go from there. From what I see, which is totally awesome (!) you will have too much muscle for bikini comps but would fit into figure. I'm guessing another 10-15 pounds and you'll see another huge transformation.

Congrats on a job very well done :)

Ladies, thanks! that means alot from my bb family. I guess I should reevaluate the body type of bikini fitness. I def like the progress I have made and other than a lil more def which I am sure will come with continuous lifting I would be totally fine with staying where I am.

oh and recomping means what exactly?

Lose body fat while gaining muscles. It's a slower process than focusing on one or the other. But it can give you a well needed break from dieting and more energy for working out.

thanks ladies.. recomping makes sense to me. and I think that is what I have already begun to do just didn't know there was a name for it. So excited about ur feedback. Of course friends and family all call me skinny now but I don't give a hoot. I love it and there are more people asking me to help them then there are ones that don't have a clue

I agree you are looking amazing. If you try to cut you might loose muscle so the recomp sounds like the way to go.

Yeah it makes sense to me as well. That is why I wasn't sure because I feel like at this point I could go either way. But I didn't want to risk losing muscles or gaining fat. I still have a considerable amount on the troublesome spots (i wish I had a vacuum). So I learn something new everyday...I didn't even know anything about recomping. Is there an informative recomping thread somewhere?

I think you look great already but I know that you personally feel like you are not yet at your best. So I think the advice above is perfect for you. Another 3-5 months and you will be right where you want to be.
