About 3 weeks ago, I started a cyclic ketogenic diet. When I read about this diet, I thought to myself, " compared to the other diets I've done, this one seems a lot more bearable and doable." And I still think it is. The problem is that for some reason, I can't seem to get passed the first week of being on the diet. In CKD, we have to wait at least 2 weeks before we can carb up. On the 4th of July, I had about 1/8 of a cake when it still wasn't my time to carb up. I didn't feel bad because I thought I can just start again and hopefully I'll be able to get into ketosis a little more quickly. Right now, I just ate 2 huge muffins and this time I do feel bad. Any suggestions on how I can get past the first 2 weeks? I hear that after the 2 weeks or so, the carb cravings disappear.

As far as my workouts go, I love working out but the thing is that I'm getting bored with my workouts. I vary my workouts but I get bored too quickly. I also feel like I don't push myself as much as I should be. I feel like I would greatly benefit from a workout partner. Sorry, I'm just venting here

Don't do keto. It's stupid. Read the stickies in the nutrition section. There is no reason to avoid carbs

I agree, don't skip out on carbs but try and go for the healthier ones. Like instead of cake, go for whole wheat bread! Then you wont crave the bad carbs as much.

Simple carbs (white flour, sugar, etc...) no good
Complex carbs (whole grains/wheat, veggies and fruits) good

Depriving yourself of anything makes you want it more and when it is already a new thing to change your diet adding a big fat "NO" to foods can make you want them more than you did before you ever began to diet.

Plus diet is a four letter word. Eat healthy, monitor calories in vs calories expended and chose water over soda, crystal light pure over sugary power aid drinks and (this is a hard one for me) try to just say no thank you I don't drink (if in deed you do drink). Alcohol is the worst carb out there and will kill your diet and your body prematurely.

stupid diet fads are just that...stupid. use your brain...our bodies were designed to use fats, proteins, and carbs. all are required to live a healthy life. if you work on your goals and dedicate yourself you will accomplish whatever it is you have in mind.

im not saying keto doesnt work, but theres no point to it.

Don't deprive yourself of the foods you enjoy. IIFYM + IF. Do it.
