I am not sure if this belongs in this forum section, but ill give it a go I am not doing a show or a competing of any sort. I am just wondering what to people do who have to compete and have a hairy body? I personally shave it, but it doesnt work as well as I was hoping. I do not have the money to get waxed, because tahts what everyone else was tellin me to do. What do you guys suggest?

There's part of your problem. Use shaving cream everywhere (helps reduce irritation), shave in the shower, and give your skin a while to get used to it. You could also buy a electric body groomer. I bought one by Norelco and, while it doesn't shave insanely close, it works well enough to keep everything contained.

Yep....I tried my chest once without shaving cream and had a lot of bumps and razor irritation.....I get the cheap $1 cans of shaving cream at Wal-Mart and lather up like crazy in the shower....shave completely and then bathe....get out, and rub-down with a moisturizer lotion and have almost zero problems with bumps or irritation...

Do you use a razor, or an electric? Right now im using an electric body trimmer, but it doesnt get the hairs close enough i find.

I got a handful of the 5-blade (I think Schick) razors in my orders from BB.com and can shave a lot of times without having to get a new blade-head. I have an electric trimmers set, but don't use it for shaving, but use it only with a guard to keep the grass short in areas I don't want shaved, but trimmed. Razor for all "slick" areas...legs, trunk, arms.....

Am curious if anyone's tried Remington's Back and Body Trimmer. Have thought about getting it, despite the fact that I haven't found an electric that will work as well as shaving with a Mach III and shaving cream.

the few times I've tried an electric I got bad irritation....and it'd didn't feel as slick as a razor either...

Norelco Bodygroom Pro... has clipper side and foil side (depending on how close you wanna get)... Next best thing to using an actual razor, takes like 15 minutes for my whole body.

And I've had the opposite experience. My electric doesn't get close enough to give me irritation. It's not as smooth by any means, but I don't really worry about that until pre-contest rolls around.

Yep. Mine is similar. 15 minutes tops for full body. Plus it's easy for touch-ups.

I started painting Thursday night as well. My last shave was on Wednesday evening, with a touch-up on Thursday morning. Honestly, with all the ProTan painted on, nobody is going to notice a little bit of stubble. So, unless your hair grows REALLY fast, I wouldn't worry about shaving past Thursday morning.

I personally use a Schick Hydro 5 razor, get in the shower, and go to town on my whole body 3x a week. Been doing it for a couple years now.. Took practice at first but now I never nick myself nor have any ingrown hairs.. Feelsgoodman
