Found these on CL but didn't have anyway of getting them. The guy had agreed to $150 for both and i had to tell him nevermind i could not get my freinds truck for the day. 20 minutes later the guy called and said for $175 he'd deliver them to me (from about 90 miles away).

Assuming you want the stuff in the first place, the $25 delivery fee is very reasonable.

Assume that the delivery vehicle gets 18 miles to the gallon. (My F150 gets about 16.) That means it'll take 10 gallons of gas to drive those 180 miles. If gas costs $3.50 per gallon, it'll cost him $35 just to drive the vehicle to and from. He may break even if his vehicle gets somewhat better gas mileage.

Your math is good but you forgot one thing. It did not cost me my time.

I agree. When you figure in the value of your time, it's an even better deal still.

The point I was trying to make is that he'll likely lose money on the delivery from gas usage alone. And, I doubt that you'd be able to do any better with your friend's vehicle. (Vehicles big enough to haul that kind of stuff don't get very good gas mileage.)

You are very, very lucky. What a great find for a fantastic price! I'm a bit jealous.

25 dollar for delivery is great. I paid $70+30 dollars gas to drive my dumbbells back on a u-haul van I rented since I had no access to truck and was carrying 2000+lbs

That T-bar row looks like a good project piece. Can't beat them for the money. I rented a UHaul this past weekend to haul a cable crossover and lat pulldown/seated row machine that I purchased. To transport them alone cost me $350 (gas/mileage/rental fees).
