i'd probably do it. i think if you dedicate some time to paying attention to the closers situation on other teams you'll get just as many saves from the waiver wire. i've never had mariano because i almost never draft a closer early enough. i end up with guys like john axford and ryan madson - both of whom already have about as many or more saves than rivera
long story short don't overvalue saves, i'd go for ethier

I could almost never see myself trading Ethier for Mo Rivera even if I needed a closer, I'd feel like I'm over paying. I would accept this trade if I were you especially since you said your OF isn't all that.

i got cruz, joyce, alex gordon, tori hunter, carlos lee. i rejected it today. mite reconsider but ethier is only good for avgs. He doesnt hit for hr. his rbis and run is ok

he averages 27 HR /yr past 2 years and thats with missing 20 games last year. he is a 30 HR caliber player and 100RBI/100R+ with good average. I would take him over all year OF personally except Cruz (when playing).

he only hit 30 hr once and he avgs barely 25 hr a year. Got 5 this year and we're 1/3 thru the season. Dodger is a mess right now, i dunno if i want him. Dude's riding the bench on the other player's team right now too
