I am feeling very dumb and having a difficult time trying to wrap my head around this one..

Lets say my BMR is 1800 calories
Add 500 for work/play/rest

That puts me at 2300 for the day.

Lets say I go nuts and do cardio twice a day, 1 hour AM & PM, and manage to burn... 600 calories each time. That is 1200 calories burned from cardio

Lets say I lift for 45 minutes, and manage to kill 300 more calories.
That adds up to 1500 caloreiss from exercise and 500 from daily life.
That means I have to eat 2000 calories just to account for life and exercise.

What about bmr?
I have to eat another 1800 just to maintain right?
In theory, if I eat 3800 calories my lean mass and fat mass should stay exactly the same right?

If I wanted to drop some fat, I would have to go under maintenance by 500 calories or so to get a theoretical 1 lbs per week of fat loss.

What about eating at BRM with the same energy output?
Seems like I would go in to the negative?!

It just seems like I am missing something here.
If My bmr is 1800 and I eat 4000 calores and do **** tons of work, how different would my body look in 6 months or 1 year from now if I kep up with it?
In theory I would be the same, right?

If your BMR is 1800 and all the work you do totals 2200 calories, therefore you've burned 4000 calories(BMR + WORK = 4000), so if you eat 4000 calories, you compensated for all the work you did + BMR and you will weigh the same.

BUT, from experience, your body composition will change but eventually plateau. So you will lose fat/gain muscle.

edit:
this isn't a contest prep thread :P should be in nutrition/losing fat
