Not very good news for users of PSN, I'm afraid. This article indicates that the hackers behind the original PSN hack indeed got hold of users' personal info and may have reset the users' passwords and changed account info so the true owners of the accounts cannot reset their passwords and thus possibly locked out of their accounts.

Note: if you are able to access your PSN account change the email addy immediately!!!

This is depressing on Sony's part. It's almost like they want to lose all of their fans

They really have it out for Sony...

Unbelievable that they've probably had hundreds of people internally and from outside security companies working on this in the last month and nobody has considered or addressed what are some very basic security issues

it wasnt hacked..................... maybe instead of commenting on things that are of no interest to you just to incite a flame war, you go back to pursuing children on popular social media sites.

We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.
Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.

Haha yeah I know, just sayin' just incase it was actually hacked or not again, I would rage if it does go back down again.

Not that it mattered when it was down, I had projects and a lot of homework due during its downtime I couldnt play even if I wanted :\

Website Owner #1: Hmm, how can we garner tons of traffic to our site?

Website Owner #2: Let's write about how the PSN was hacked again and how people's email address are not safe

Website Owner #1: But won't people wonder about some sort of proof or how exactly someone having their email address can be an issue?

Website Owner #2: No! The majority of the general public are fear mongering idiots who will not only believe anything they read online but exagerate the rumors we write about and pass them on as facts.

Website Owner #1: Wait, so not only will we get tons of hits from idiots linking our site on forums, but they themselves will make up a much worse rumor and thus keep us from looking like the bad guys?

Website Owner #2: Yes! Aren't idiots wonderful?!

AND NO, I didn't click on the link so I don't know exactly what they are claiming but like already stated by others, it's probably BS.

No flamewar here and none intended. Just a heads up as there was indeed info accessed.

im hearing this everywhere too, srsly, media using a little bit of info to create another sh!tstorm. it wasn't hacked, its just a flaw in the way they are distributing/changing the passwords.

SMH at websites using this to cause another panic attack on everyone again. OP theres no need to change the email, if the email was sent already then its too late, best thing to do is to change ur email password and security questions

Sony's not helping this as because they are reluctant to clarify things and unwilling to share information with users. All I was quoting in the OP was an article on a blog. Maybe you should try talking to Sony's support group yourself and post the results here as it'll most likely be of use to others.

since you don't regularly post in this section, i understand that you don't know what i do and do not post here in terms of news....

I've kept up with all pertinent PS3 news for the last 2 years and posted it in the official PS3 thread. ANY news that i post is vetted through the official PS3 blog, or other credible sources prior to posting on this site.

What you lack in mental capacity, certainly shows in your prose.

Thank you for your clarification and please don't ever talk down to me. I have been on the level with you and I don't think I deserve the little rebuke and I'd rather have people politely correct me if I am wrong on something.

Do you ever talk down to people IRL? I certainly don't as it is rather impolite and respect goes both ways.
