The lat pulldown part of it looks like it could be okay. Put a decent handle on the low row part and that could be okay too. Hard to say from just the picture as I have no idea how well the cables move.

wouldn't base my workout on this, but this machine would provide great supplemental exercises to any routine.

ie. flies/reverse flies, low rows, and lat pulls.

You bought crap because it was cheap and easy.

Working out is hard and a lot of work, since yoo obviously prefer cheap and easy this workout thing is not going to be a success right now.

I would just take the home gym back and buy a nice clothes rack since that is what this is destined to become.

my willingness to workout has nothing to do with my financial situation.

I would sell it and get some ironmaster dumbbells, and a superbench with a pull-up bar attachment. This set-up would actually be much easier to work with once you choose a workout routine. You'll hit more muscles in a shorter amount of time, have 10x more exercises you could perform, and your progress will be much faster. The resale value on them is also very high even after several years.

Were not trying to be downers but looking at the machine there is just not much you can do with it. I think you'll tire of it real quick.

Sorry Wildtim but you started it all. Why insulting people like this. You dont even know this guy! Come on man!!! Give him a break! And yes there is something to do with this machine! You can do lat pulldowns, close grip V horizontal rows, biceps curls, triceps extensions, and many more. A good bodybuilder does not need the best machine or the expensive one, you just need to have motivation and the willing to lift day after day

I agree with you. My best advice would be to use it for everything it's intended for and when you get strong enough that the stack's not enough weight, sell it and get something else. Or flip it right now and get some free weights if you don't have them already.

"Cheap and Easy" are things I look for in a date, not gym equipment.

Is this new or used? You can probably get that piece of equipment off of craigslist for like $100-$150. If it's new, then IMHO, someone who is having problems financially shouldn't be investing in something like that which cost about $300, especially for someone who made it seem like he is working out regularly. You want to get something that would build to last many years, or else you are going to end up selling it in possibly a few months and end losing money due to the lower resale value.

I would suggest to keep searching for some deals off of craigslist that you could drive to. Chances are, you will be able to find deals that is much better than what you are getting, if you are patient enough.

For whatever that machine cost I'm betting that if the OP wanted to put in the effort he could buy a used power rack and a set of free weights. But he chose that machine because it was the easy way out. This is never the mindset of anyone successful. I flippantly pointed that out.

A bodybuilder doesn't need the best equipment but how far would you get with a less than 200# stack and a limited machine? It is possible to get a full body workout on a machine like that but within a couple of months of solid work there will be body parts that max it out making it useless.

Cheap and easy is never really cheap and easy never leads to the result people want.

For sure a power rack and a set of free weights would be better! But if you have that machine and a power rack and a set of free weights you can have a good list of different exercises to do! And you have to start somewhere! As for myself, i dont have that kind of machine. I have a power rack with lat attachment on it which i think is better than this piece of equipment but that cost me more money than this machine worth! You can do some exercises with that machine but this cannot be the primary machine in your gym, this completes the rest of your gym by adding some good exercises to the primary movements that you do with a power rack and some free weights!

Not much to go with there and you'll probably max out the weight stack very quickly if you haven't already. With that in mind you'll probably need to do a lot of pre-exhaustion type of work outs, i.e. do flyes first to fatigue your chest then do the bench press equivalent on this piece. Unless those arms adjust upwards I'm not sure how you'll be able to do a military press for your delts. You can do one arm laterals and upright rows or high pulls for your delts. Low rows and pulldowns for your lats, obviously preachers for your bis and pushdowns for your tris. Leg extensions and one leg standing leg curls are about all you'll be able to do for upper legs, maybe low pulley stiff legged deadlifts for hams. You're going to be limited, you'll just have to be creative and learn about different lifts and try to emulate them on this machine.
Best advice make this a band aid, put it on craigs list and upgrade to something better as soon as you can. You'll be better off in the long run, but using something is better than using nothing.

BTW this thread has quickly taken a turn to the power rack bullying I referred to in a different post. The OP asks specifically about using this machine. Only a couple of people actually answered his question. Everyone else jumped on the power rack band wagon. Power racks are usefull. Now some of you will find this hard to believe, but not everybody wants one in their house.

well, havent check this thread in a while. wow. ok thanks for everyones sugestions

actually i do have free weights, and now have this machine as well.

its great for doing lat pulldowns, and i love the preacher curls on it.

the bench is pretty crap, but I do those a my flat bench anyway

the stack goes up to like 280lbs i believe, depending on the cable.

once I can lift the entire stack on all exercises, sure im gonna sell it, but I also will be a beast by then, at least compared to what i max out at now.

and i will sell it to another beginner.
