View Full Version : Is this routine right for my goals?

Here is some background about me,
I'm slightly past the beginner stage of lifting. I have completed about 5 months of starting strength and built a decent foundation of strength. I want to continue to build on that strength and also build some more muscle mass. I went off starting strength because the recovery time was simply not enough for me to handle the weights I was up to, especially with the squat. I want to continue to focus on the core lifts however and increase the weight each time I hit the gym. I have taken a little time off and since I've been back to workout out I have been using the routine below. I slightly modified a few routines I've found, but the main template comes from the "simple power based routine" from Ironaddict.

My Body stats are
Height 5'11"
Weight 177
BF % ~10%

Current 1rep max (estimated based on 5rep maxes)
Squat - 265
Deadlift - 295
Bench - 230
OH Press - 135

MONDAY
Squats 3x5
Pullthroughs 3x10
1arm DB row 4x6
Lat Pull Down 2x8
DB Curls 3x8
Calf Press 3x15

TUESDAY
Bench Press 3x5
Incline DB Press 4x8
Lateral Shoulder Raise 3x8
Skullcrushers 3x10
Abs 3x10-15

THURSDAY
Deadlift 3x5
Leg Press 3x8
Pullups 4x6-8
Seated Row 2x8
Curls 3x8
Seated Calf Raise 3x15

SATURDAY
Overhead Press 3x5
DB Bench Press 4x8
Upright Rows 3x8
Tricep Pushdowns 3x10
Abs 3x10-15
