hey all, my name is matt, and here is my log... I'm 196 (36.5 inch waist) now, and my goal is to lose around 10-15 pounds in the next month or two. After that, I plan on bulking back to 200 or so :] My plan is to follow the IF regimen for two reasons: I already eat that way for the most part (not a big morning eater), and it's easier to plan out my calories.
Diet goals: 200 gram protein/day
2200-2400 cals on workout days
1800-2000 cals on off days
Workout: I usually workout every other day full-body training. I have 1 lower body compound movement and two upper body movements. It's pretty simple stuff (RPT style), and I find that I respond best to this volume of training.

Dipsx3 6-10 reps

I probably wont go too far into detail with my diet - other than total calories and macros- unless anybody inquires about it. Any questions or suggestions please ask :]

hey guys- just seeing if anybody would give me some tips on improving my deadlifting form. I think my lower back should probably be more straight(definitely on the 3rd rep) but I think it would not look so bad if viewed from the side.

Ate a little bit more today because i had a pretty rough workout. I don't think I ate enough yesterday (1800cals) and maybe that affected todays workout. I just feel like I didn't have enough energy, and everything felt really heavy lol. Anyway

Yesterday was probably close to maintenance-had to go to a bday party, and I went to the gym at about 3:50 only to find that they were closing at 4 :[ so I didn't even try lol. Had a decent workout, seems like endurance is dropping a bit. I stopped taking creatine around 3 weeks ago, so maybe I'm still returning to my baseline state.

wasn't too hungry today, probably because I have been going with a smaller deficit over the past couple of days. Hopefully my workout tomorrow won't suffer. I might actually eat a snack just to bring up my cals a bit. This usually wouldn't bother me, but I have been pretty active today. oh well :]

I guess I'll plan on weighing in once or twice a week, and maybe do measurements once per week. I was 194 (-2lb) this morning, not much change in the waist measurement, arms were down 1/4 of an inch :[ so maybe there was some water weight coming off. I figure I'll just stay the course and reevaluate next week:]

Workout was average today. I'm not sure if it is the diet or that the fact that the gym felt ~90 degrees, but I really had to labor to get through it lol

I thought I was gonna have a rough time with the dips, so I did fewer reps on bench. But when I was about to to begin the dips, a group of people walked up and started watching me lol. I guess I got a bit of an adrenaline rush or something because I breezed through them.

Diet was alright today, getting a bit sick of chicken lol. Hopefully I'll have a good day at the gym tomorrow. I figure I'll do an official weigh-in tomorrow, though I feel I'm making good progress regardless.

Hey bro good log so far! What time are you doing your workouts? Since you are doing IF i would guess you are prolly doing it fasted(?) If your energy levels are still not what you'd want maybe try like a EC stack or Creatine again. I found creatine gives me more energy for my lifts and i can push harder. Just a thought, not that you had asked lol Keep up the hard work man!

Thanks! I usually workout around 3 (fasted) - I usually have pretty decent energy levels in the gym. If I don't eat enough the day before,I can usually feel it though lol. I just ran out of creatine 3 weeks ago, but I plan on getting some more once my protein runs out. As for EC, I may give it a shot once the weight loss slows down. Thanks for the suggestions!

Todays workout was pretty rough. Didn't really feel 100% going in, and then my grip gave out on my first heavy set of deads. For the rest of the workout, my forearms felt really weak. Eh- just gotta keep on going.

You'll make it through the weekend man! Not only Easter dinner but my freaking office is having a food day lol I swear to god there is enough treats here to feed a third world country...staying strong tho! :D

Yea I hear ya man. Keep it up. I ended up doing alright yesterday (i think). Had some mexican food for dinner, but I didn't really eat chips, and my diet was spot on for the rest of the day.

Nice Job! I guess i did alright, based on the circumstances. I basically went to 3 different Easter dinners lol. Yesterday wasn't so bad- had a decent workout, probably ended with around 2000 calories and 180g protein. Today was a bit worse, but I just gotta get back on track tomorrow.

Had a pretty decent workout today- diet's looking pretty good as well. Changed up my deadlift grip a little bit and it seemed to help out. I weighed in this morning, and I was 193.8, which is down 1 lb from last Monday-but up a bit from Thursday. So I think the Easter weekend didn't hurt too much.

Overall, I think there has been some decent progress-arms and torso appear to be more lean, waist size has gone down an inch(arms down 1/4in,darn!). I figure I'll be ready to bulk again once I hit 180-182

I started around 3k calories per day, but about midway through I bumped it to 3600 on workout days, and 3k on off days. Feel free to ask me any questions. Good Luck!

Ended up taking 3 days off in a row because my gym closes at 4 on Saturday and I couldn't make it in time. Eh well, no harm done. I loosened up the diet over the past couple days- just to have a little break. I didn't really go overboard or cheat like that, I just didn't shoot for a large deficit. On a good note-I ate a burger with a 1.5 lb pound patty- quite tasty!
Anyway-workout went pretty well today. I brought in some chalk to help out the grip issues.

Pretty active today. Diet was a little bit higher than usual, but I bet that I had a moderate deficit anyway. Workout was pretty brutal-I feel like I'm losing a lot of strength on my squats. It was a struggle to get them today. Maybe it's the squats/deads 3x a week that is catching up to me. Could also be that I am running too large of a caloric deficit. For some reason- my muscles were very 'achy' immediately after squatting. If anyone has some input -I'd appreciate it. Anyway:

It COULD be because you are lifting that heavy while fasted. Just a guess man, I don't really know for sure. Sometimes my lifts are stellar, sometimes they are garbage it's kinda odd like that.

Went to a party tonight, didn't go overboard too much though. Had a couple drinks and a couple fajitas- so I had to guesstimate a little bit on calories. The calories are kinda high, but I feel that I exaggerated a bit on the estimate. I ended up scratching the deadlifts during the workout, but replaced with a few other exercises.

Well I generally eat around 4pm-11pm. Though I don't get bent out of shape if I have to eat outside the window. If I were you, I would try to have the eating window afterwork. It just depends on your goal I suppose. If you are cutting- it would be pretty easy to get 2k calories in two meals.

Now that I am cutting, I usually eat 2-3 times a day. Just see what works best for you. My advice is to get a routine and stick to it. After you get used to your eating schedule, it is pretty easy to stick to it. Just don't go too low on cals!

I wasn't gonna go to the gym today until I realized it was mother's day tomorrow. Diet was pretty good today-kinda had a bit of a cheat day yesterday. I think I may start adding a little bit of cardio into my routine- just to speed things up a bit. I would like to wrap this cut up by the end of May if that is possible. That should put me around 182ish if I stay on track.

I know exactly how that feels...ALWAYS some stupid holiday or something that you have to eat cake or pizza or drink. And it sucks when you have to say no sometimes and people get butthurt...lol.

yea I hear ya man. Yesterday was the fourth day in a row that I had to go eat dinner/party/whatever with people. I don't really think i did damage to my progress, but it definitely wasn't an optimal diet.

Diet was pretty good today. I actually ended up doing some cardio (incline treadmill 30 minutes) just because I was bored. I weighed in this morning, and I was only down .5lb from last week-although my waist measurement still decreased .25". I know that my workout days had a little bit higher cal intake last week than the previous weeks- so that may have been the culprit(or too many cals over the weekend lol).

Diet was alright today. Had some ground beef, so it kinda skewed my fat grams for today. Went to the gym, didn't do deadlifts again- think I'll wait until Saturday for those. Energy felt pretty good in the gym, not doing very good with the rows- I think I was pretty fatigued by the time I did them

Went to the gym today. Everything felt really heavy, haven't had a day like this in awhile. I am going to attribute this to the overall lower caloric intake that I've had over the past 4 or 5 days. I'm just trying to speed up the losses a bit, since I plan on ending the cut at the end of May. I might do a deload soon as well, starting to feel some aches pains lol.

Lol yea I know man. I've been slacking a bit on the log. Diet has been pretty good over the past 3 day. On Friday and today (Sunday), I had 1800 cals and did 30 minutes of cardio both days. I went to to the gym yesterday and I was definitely feeling the effects of the lower calories (~2400 cals on Saturday). My plan for this week is to take tomorrow off and start a deload week on Tuesday. I haven't really thought about it too much, but I'll probably increase reps some and decrease weight about 50%.

Thanks dude, yea I will probably get pretty close. I was 188 this morning, so I'm still heading in the right direction. I'm not sure what I will do after that. I will definitely not be eating at large deficit, like I am doing now. I guess I will be eating at a range of a small deficit to a small surplus (maybe like 2800 to 3200). I'm gonna be doing a lot of wakeboarding, so I gotta be energized for it lol.

oh yea- i love it. I'm usually at the lake quite a bit during the summer. I messed my ankle up last year and it is still kinda bothering me. Hopefully I can still go big lol!

deload went alright today I guess. Didn't have a rigid plan that I was following. I basically used half of my normal weight, with 10-12 reps per exercise. I did 2 sets of each of the following :squat,bench,dips,shoulder press, decline bench, tricep pushdowns. Although it might seem like a lot, I really didn't exert myself much at all.

Originally I had planned to have an off day today- but I changed it up, because the next few days will probably be busy for me. I was feeling pretty energized (probably from the cheat day lol) so I had a pretty intense workout. My program is kindof in limbo right now while I am concluding my cut. I weighed in at 189 this morning, so that is pretty much the same as last week- but waist size still decreased .25' (might be related to the cheat day). No worries

had a long day today. I laid 2.5 pallets of sod over the course of 5 hours- so I definitely got my cardio in today. I looked it up and apparently laying sod burns 340 cals per hour. Not sure if that is accurate, but I am completely wiped out lol. Gotta lay a couple pallets tomorrow, hopefully I've got the energy for it.

laid more sod today, did it for about 7 hours- ugh. Not sure if I am doing damage because I have still kept my calories pretty low. Eh well, I guess it'll be alright. I think I'll try to go to the gym tomorrow, time permitting.

lol yea i guess. It's nice for the first couple hours, then it gets rough. yea summer breaks can be rough, gotta hang in there bro!

ok so I started a new job, so my diet has kinda gone downhill over the past few days. I gotta plan out my meals a bit for now- and I may have to shift my eating window a few hours. I did get to workout yesterday too, so I'm doing alright. Gonna try to get back on track tomorrow. That should be easy because it appears that i'll be laying more sod lol

Starting to get my schedule back in order. Had a cheat day on Saturday, though I probably didn't go too much overboard on the calories. I'll probably up my calories a bit now, since I'm gonna have to be quite a bit more active at my job now. It will probably take some trial and error, but I think I will shoot for 2200-2500 cals. Weighed in at 186.6 yesterday, so I'm still progressing well.

Ok well I certainly did not eat enough today. I was extremely busy all day and I kindof lost track of my diet. My protein is a bit low as well- I cooked 2-3lbs of chicken last night (3-5 days worth) and I accidently left it out overnight! So I really had to scrounge around for protein sources. Eh well, I'll get some more tomorrow.

heyo- been a few days since i've checked in. I've just been pretty busy with work, though my diet and workouts have been pretty decent. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm trying to increase my daily cals to compensate for the extra activity. I have a wedding that I will have to attend in a couple weeks, so I've decided to eat around maintenance until then, and start my bulk afterwards. Also-i weighed in at 184 today, so I'm still progressing well.
