View Full Version : How many calories do YOU eat per day?

Hi guys!

I remember there used to be a thread here where women posted how many calories they were eating per day..but I can't find it! Recently I was telling some women that the average female needs at least 2000 (depending on other factors), but a lot of women were disagreeing and saying that was too high.

So, I wanted to give them some examples of women who DO eat plenty, whether that be cutting, maintaining, etc! So, how many calories do YOU eat per day?

Edited to add: I totally forgot to say mine. I can maintain on around 2000-2200, sometimes more depending how active I am. (The 2000-2200 is without cardio, and being sedentary besides lifting).

I eat around 2600-3000 per day and I am, obviously, bulking. :) It is very hard, some days, to get up to what I need though. I can't eat a lot all at ones and usually eat 7 small meals a day.

Between 2600 and 3000.

slow bulk.

I shoot for 2600 daily. But I factor in my cardio so I can eat upwards of 3000 if I'm hungry that day.

Lol @ all the guys answering.

I don't even know how many I eat anymore. Depending on the day, anywhere from 1500 to like 2300. I'm putting together a cutting plan for myself though, so they will probably be around 1800 by next week.

Currently cutting at 1350-ish, but I am an old hag :D who sits on her a$$ all day, does zero to minimal cardio, and has been dieting since January, thus steadily dropping her cals from about 1500-1600.

Around 2200. My maintenance BMR is around 1800, but that's crap and doesn't apply to me for some reason. If I eat 1800 I lose weight which I'm trying not to do. Not to mention that I'm starving. So help me god if I ever change my mind and need to lose weight.

1900 maintenance, 1500 on a cut (currently on a cut getting ready for Vegas).

How does everyone break it out? I loathe breakfast and usually eat less than 200 calories, then for lunch I get hungry and eat like 400, then another 200 in afternoon snacks, 400-500 for dinner and another 200 in evening snacks.

My maintenance is 2200 if I take a weeks worth of Bodymedia totals and average them out. I work a desk job but am active after, do three full body workouts and one or two cardio sessions a week. Theoretically I should lose at 1700 cals but am eating at 1600-1700 for padding, third week in not seeing anything yet.

Same here, I guess my metabolism is pretty shot, so 1200-1300 for me is a SLOW cut (meaning I lose 1lb every 2 weeks). And before you ask, yes it sucks to eat so little. I don't really count calories when I am not cutting, but I'd guess I am around 1700.
Generally i divide it as
100-150 calories at breakfast
400-500 calories lunch
100-150 mid afternoon snack
400-500 calories dinner

BAHAHA! Hokay...this made me laugh. Thanks :) I usually eat around 2200 (the LEAST), which will be increasing ;) According to my BB I could eat upwards of 3K easily on some days and STILL be in a deficit. Whoop Whoop *fist bumps like a champ* :D

Maintenance is around 2000, so I currently eat about 1700-1800 to cut (more if it's a workout day - I'm taking it slow).

Breakdown is at least 300 for breakfast, 100-200 for morning snack, 350-500 for lunch, 200 for afternoon snack, and then whatever is left goes on dinner, post workout shake and/or evening munchies! Some days I forget to eat in the mornings but those days I usually wind up with a Starbucks which is about 100 calories anyway.

Just had to mention here-->Do you mean BMR OR maintenance, cuz they aren't the same thing. Factoring in activity shows that you burn more, so it makes sense why you'd lose weight on 1800 :) Even with a sedentary factor you'd be burning ~ 2150 (1800 x 1.2) which would be closer to your maintenance. :)

For me: I can cut on anything from 1700-2200 depending how much I'm working out/what my days look like (at work? moving a lot? sitting at a desk?). Currently trying to bulk slowly on a few hundred more than that.

Eating right around 2,300-2,500 a day and maintaining. My bodymedia says that I usually burn 2,500-2,800, soooo...some days I could probably go up! YES! If I eat less than 2,200 I am starving. Haven't tried cutting, so no idea what my cals would be like then.

My maintenance (bodbybugg) is 2500-2800 and I'm trying to add a bit of mass right now, so I'm shooting for 2700-3000 but it's really freaking hard, mentally. I've been getting really close lately, and even ate over on a couple days and I'm still the same weight which was surprising to me.

Maintaining right now at 2300. If I eat less, I shrink. I cut between 1800 and 1900...but am freaking starving at that point.

I'm cutting and eating about 1900 calories a day. According to my bodymedia fit, I burn an average of 2300 calories a day. This is with me lifting 3x a week, playing football for 40 minutes on Saturdays, and doing a Zumba class on Thursdays. When I was bulking my metabolism seemed to be a bit faster. By the end of my bulk, I was eating 2500 calories a day without gaining.

curently eating 2000-2200/day
according to my bodymedia I should maintain around 2600-2800 most days. that being said my days vary so much. some days I'm up at 545am for work at 7am until 730pm then cardio afterward. other days im up at 8am lift, errands, work at 3 till 1130. only work 3-4 days a week and on my days off I many times hit the gym early morning and again in the evening. so my burn can really vary as well as my hunger. anything lower than 1800 and I'm miserable and way too hungry. Ive eaten 2600-3200 on a bulk before and didnt blow up at all, in fact I gained a few pounds then plateaued.

Averaging about 1500 on a cut right now, losing about 1.5 lbs/week. Two more weeks and then I'm upping my calories. I think maintenance will be in the 2100 range, based on what my Bodymedia Fit has been telling me. FWIW, my LBM is very low for my height-- about 110 lbs. After I figure out maintenance, I'm going to transition to a good, long bulk (at least 9 months)at the end of July.

I'm trying to gain, eating around 2800 calories most days. I suppose its more a range of 2700-3000ish though. I *think* I need 2500 to maintain but we'll see if that number goes up again or not. A few months ago I could maintain on 2200-2300. Now I lose on that amount.

My maintenance is around 1700. Trying to cut a few pounds right now so staying more around 1500. Any lower than that and I get squirrely.

Saying that, I'm one of those eejits who probably doesn't really know exactly what my maintenance # is because I have too often jumped around after a minor scale fluctuation, or have had a binge episode and freak and change things up without ever staying the course for an extended length of time. I'm trying to remain more consistent and sane these days.

When I go back to maintaining I'd like to see if I can go higher than 1700. I am completely envious of those who can eat over 2000 cals...I hate you all...but in a kind, sisterly way. ;)

Holy Crap on some of the so called "maintenance and/or cutting" cals
<------ totally JE-alous!
cutting sux, dieting sux :( been doing it now since Feb last year cause I was disgusting pig body LOL
Still fight with myself to eat enough which is why I am losing so slowly....
Hopefully the 1400 cal & 5 days moderate cardio & 3 days WT will do the trick!
28 lbs left seems like it will take another whole lifetime :( to drop

Maintenance for me is around 1900 - 1950 no freakin way I could eat all that much in healthy meals of chicken & fish!!!!

So not sure how some of the ladies do it, eating 2300 or more yikes! Good on ya :)

My maintenance has seem to gone up since I've been bulking.

First month starting (5'6", 126 pounds), maintenance according to GoWear around 2400, gaining about 0.5 lb/week eating average of 2700.

8 months into bulk (135 pounds), maintenance according to GoWear around 2600, actually lost weight this month eating an average of 2900.

My burn rate varies day to day depending on activity, anywhere from 2050 to 3200. The most I have eaten in one day was 5200 cals (yum!).

I will probably start my cut at around 2300 and see how things go from there.

my metabolism is totally in the $hitter right now from dieting at 1600 cals for 2 yrs then bingge eating and taking laxitives for 8mths. SOOOOO... right now I'm lucky if I get 1400 cals- anything more than that I gain like crazy. But I'm trying to get it up cuz I'm burning WAY WAY WAY more than that!

I'm cutting on what I used to eat as maintenance, a combination of muscle gain and my metabolism repairing itself after years of under eating.

I do a lot of swimming, biking, and running, and will hit 4k calories from time to time. On a typical day I eat right around 3k right now (maintaining).

Im cutting at 1600 now (for about a month) and not sure how much my maintenance is. I pretty much sit all day for my M-F job (IT professional) and workout 5-6 days a week. Would be interesting to see what my numbers are with the bodybug devices but I guess I will find out with trial and error.
