View Full Version : Supps question on Keto and EC diet/stack

Ok, so today I'm starting back on my diet to cut down about 2% more body fat. I'm 5'11 184 pounds and am at 12.1% body fat. My goal is to get close to 10% in the next 6 weeks, and hopefully gain a little bit of muscle if possible. I am following Lyle McDonald's Ultimate 2.0 diet - it's the best and most convenient diet I've ever done while cutting BF and I've had the best muscle preservation while on it, even strength gains.

Normally, these are the supplements I use during the diet:
25mg ephedrine/200mg caffeine twice daily
Omega 3,6,9
Zinc
Magnesium
Green Tea Extract
Multivitamin
Calcium Citrate
Creatine Monohydrate
BCAA's and Glutamine

My question is whether not, if anything else, I would need to throw in here. I've been reading articles and researching about two specifically - and those are chromium picolinate and some type of testosterone booster such as "humanofort"...

Now, chromium picolinate I've taken before - but not for the same reasons as I've been reading. I've read that it can help enhance the effects of insulin so that protein and carbs can be pushed into the muscle cells helping to build more and produce more energy. If I'm on a ketogenic diet such as the one I'm on, is this necessary to add this since the purpose of a keto state is to normalize or inhibit insulin anyways??

Testosterone is good for growth and helps maintain a good mood, bone and muscle mass, proper energy production, good recuperation from physical activity, and a healthy sex drive. Is this necessary and is it safe? I wouldn't mind adding this if it's that beneficial. Also, please let me know if there is a certain brand that is reasonable and of good quality.

I guess my questions regarding these supps are how they will work as they're integrated to my diet and stack. Will they have different effects? Also, please let me know if there are any other supps worth adding to this to reach my goals...

First and foremost I'm on UD2 as well and it is one hell of a diet

Your stack looks fine. The creatine mono is for the load right? He suggests it for the load and power workout, I don't think taking it during the week has any benefits. But besides that you covered everything.

EDIT: about the test boosters. The books says (direct quote)

"Natural" lifters could try to achieve a similar effect with low-dose prohormones taken frequently throughout the day to achieve a similar effect. Men should use one of the diols at 200-300 mg taken every three hours during the day"

and that was talking about on friday carb load.

This is retarded advice. I don't care who wrote it. The PH's will do absolutely nothing in low doses AND you probably can't even find them anymore. The designers will increase whatever the target hormone is but will reduce Testosterone levels, which will have the opposite effect of the "benefits" mentioned in the article. The only thing that would work is Testosterone itslef and for the reasons you've outlined, that would be a bad move on your part.

I just got the ultimate diet 2.0 book. Didn't read it yet. Is it basically a Keto diet?

Looks like you've got all your bases covered.

I see you've got both EC stack and creatine tho, aren't you getting really dehydrated with that? Or is it working out alright?

Well, seeing as Creatine usually makes people retain water weight, I don't see dehydration being an issue.

OP, why did you decide on dosing the EC stack 2x daily instead of 3? Just out of safety?

Also, when on an EC stack be sure to have daily potassium levels above 2000mg/day to try to avoid high blood pressure. Fish oil helps too I've heard.

you can get ephedra again??? that **** was great for studying homework on. like adderall only not nearly as addictive (god adderall was so much fun... don't take it anyone, even if you are ADHD).

@OP:

I find that only the creatine and EC works, plus extra protein helps. the only other thing I can clearly state works for me is sleep and discipline. :(

might try a ZMA stack to help you sleep. I take mine in the morning - it has tribulus terresteris in it, which stimulates LH not test.. but I think it makes a noticeable effect.

is glutamine and BCAA really needed if your already eating 1g+/lb of lbm? do you notice an effect? how about at 2g/lb of lbm?

I heard taking an aspirin with your ephedra and caffeine lowers your bodies tolerance to them supposedly making them more effective
