Hello everyone
Im looking to compete next may in 2012, at under 70kg.
I have 14 months to find about 5kg of lean muscle and to then cut down and look ripped.
My training program and diet are ok for the time being as i have a nutritionist at my university sorting it out.
However im looking for measurements and symmetry advice. I don't know how 'big' a under70kg bodybuilder should be. Ive seen pictures, but looking at them its always hard to judge the actual size.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

lol an under 70KG bodybuilder should be under 70KG. That's it. If you are shorter you will look bigger at that weight than a taller competitor at the same weight. You pack on as much lean mass as you can then cut down and see how you look. There's nothing else to it. It really doesn't matter how another competitor looks at a certain weight because you don't have the same genetic makeup as them. You can only look as good as YOU can.
Take the next several months to eat big, lift big, and grow that lean mass. Then at around the 25-30 week out mark take an assessment of where you are bodyfat wise and determine if you need to start your contest prep then or if you can wait a while.
A word for the wise: if you are unsure if you should start your prep, its better to air on the conservative side and give yourself extra time to diet rather than waiting a while and finding you will have to crash diet to make it.

I compete in the under 70kg on the british natty scene. very few of us are actually near 70kg with our top guys like zambra and steve davies being a good kilo or two inside the weight limit.
as Robby said, give yourself plenty of time to get truelly shredded and you will do well aslong as you have a balanced physique.
which org and shows were you looking at doing? also if it is your first show novice is often a good idea, can be toguher for the smaller bodybuilder though.

Im looking at doing the NABBA in hartlepool. I am currently sitting at 65kg. But my legs are lacking the full definition and i need much bigger chest and arms as their tiny.
You can probably see this from my progress pictures.

I compete in the under 70kgs and Under 65kg divisions....
I will say dunno about england but in Australia alot of the freaks are there.
Just come as conditioned as possible they get judged like all divisions..muscularity, symmetry, proportion. most under 70kgs usually arent even close to 70kg
Ive left some pics of that division to help you evaluate
usually guys around 5'7 and below
the asian guy competes at 64kg

All lighter than 70kg. Check out some WNBF and IFPA LW's. Get as lean as possible, weight doesn't correlate with how well you'll do. Utilize it as a tool for marking progress, not a detection of whether you'll look like you belong or not. At 5'6'' If you came in at a middle or heavy weight class you're probably fat or should be standing next to Branch Warren.
