My first time doing the keto diet, figured I would log it too...Will post pics and stats along with my macro's...

Day 1 Weight: 223

did biceps and back today at the gym along with 26 min of cardio. Felt pretty good too. only have eaten 22 carbs so far today but have 1 more meal to go.. here are some pics for my before keto...

food: eggs,egg beaters, cheese, beef jerky, ground hamburger meat, turkey burgers, bacon, sausage, olive oil, salmon, tuna, pwo shake

supps: whey, fish oil, multi and 1MR

when the diet stalls, you might wanna consider carb cycling whcich is what i did and i dropped 4.5%bf in 8 weeks, thats over .5% a week, the diet took my body to the next level, check out my progress pics..... here is my journal, the carb cycling diet with the macros each day start half way down the page.

just got back from the gym. did chest triceps and abs today along with 30 minutes of cardio.
felt a little less energetic during my workout today but not sluggish. had a good workout overall. I'll post my macros later tonight.

also weighed in today at 220, down 3 lbs from yesterday. most likely just water and some glycogen storage.

as of right now I'm starting to feel really tired and worn out. Idk if its the workout or the lack of carbs. But for basically the whole day I felt normal not sluggish.

5 eggs cooked in 2 tbsp of olive oil, 2 strips of bacon, sausage, 1 slice of cheese, 1 tbsp of Peanut butter

just a side note: so far today I feel as if I have not a lot of energy, I want to just sleep.

felt a little more energetic at the gym but my pump wasn't great, did 30 minutes of cardio also. I don't plan to do my carb up day until next friday.

Today I hit chest and triceps again at the gym. Had a pretty good pump compared to the past days this week. much more energy too. did 28 minutes of cardio and then hit the sauna for about 10-15 min. feltgoodman. I'll post macros once I eat my last meal for the day.

weighed in today at 215.5

thanks man. This weekend has been especially tough, I decided to quit drinking while on my keto diet. lol and my bar is FULL of goodies haha. Right now is just no fun. but eating all this food makes up for it a little better, and not having any hangovers is great too...I will forsure update tho man, probably post some pics in 2 weeks

Thats good to hear! I gave up drinkin September 22, 2010 (turned 21 on sept 17,2010 lol) haven't missed it at all! As for the goodies my mom owns a a lil ma n pop diner, everything is homemade, try passing up on a giant homemade cinnamon roll everyday... But we get to have a bacon cheese burger while dieting!! Nothin better

haha that would suck man. actually after a while last night my want for the booze died down and I wasn't craving a drink, feelsgoodman. 1 week sober! but here are my macros for saturday, my carbs might be around 20 for the day seeing as i was snacking on beef jerky throughout the day

How do you keep carbs that low?? I struggle to get under 25g some days....

Same on the giving up drinking... its just not worth it anymore... sober since last halloween :) feelsgood

carbs were prolly around 20-23, I snacked on some beef jerky. but I eat a lot of red meat and eggs

Are you able to get in 3-5 servings veggies at all? or do you not count those in your total?

carbs were prolly around 25-27, ate a bag of beef jerky but didn't add it in. also got too much protein in yesterday, so going to shoot for 240 g of fat today

also weighed in at 218 yesterday

I hear ya...I miss oatmeal like woah. Even my 'fauxtmeal' isn't cutting it anymore :( lol though it is tasty, its just not the same! But I've decided I'm going to wait another 2 weeks before having my carb up....so let me know how yours goes....I'll be drooling with envy haha

are you hitting ketosis? just curious because its hard to get a pump in ketosis, unless you recently had a carb up(within the last 2 days)

didn't lift just did 36 min of cardio. hitting biceps and back today and possibly traps. haven't weighed today or yesterday. going to start carb up later today I've been waiting forever it feels like for this day. Don't plan on drinking though, feels good being sober for 2 weeks now! Opening week of baseball this week so I will just prolly fill my weekend with watching them yankees!

I hit biceps,back, calves and traps today with 25 min of cardio. felt fatigued after completing sets so I could tell it was time to carb up. I only had one meal before I started. 5 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 1 slice of cheese and 2 sausage patties in 2 tbs of olive oil

got chest and triceps tomorrow and some cardio probably around 30-40 mins. so far my carb up started with me being like I was losing my virginity but now I feel like a POS and I'm bloated. but feelsgoodman to eat some different things. as for social life I have fallen off the map the past 2 weekends, just stay in and watch netflix, play ps3, and workout. but I wanna get the best results so I just have to give up some things

well to be honest, pumps only happen when there is glycogen in the muscle cells, so even with 1mr u shouildnt be getting a pump, which lets me know your not depleting the muscles enough, therefore your not going to get the benefits of the carb up at all. the point of the carb up is to rebuild muscle lost while being in ketosis by refilling muscle glycogen, so if your muscles arent depleted, those carbs arent going to go to your muscles and will be stored partially in the muscles and partially in the fat.

the 2 workouts following your carb up should produce pumps, but after that the pumps should be gone and ketosis should be estabilished by then.

my suggestion to get optimum benefit from the keto diet:

mon-keto-chest delts tris
tuesday-keto- back bis tris
wed-keto-legs
thurs-keto
fri-keto-full body depletion in evening- begin carb up
sat-carb up
sunday-keto or continue carb up
do cardio as you wish

thanks man. I'll just not go all out crazy with the carbs like I wanted, the first week I stopped getting pumps but the second week I was getting them again? but thanks for the info. I think Im gonna tweak the diet and shoot for around 2700-2800 calories instead of 3000 for this upcoming week

i got some keto test strips today, I just have a question about them. the test chart you compare the strip to goes from light colors to dark colors. which is the color the strip should be if in ketosis? i know there not 100% accurate but I have no clue lol.

I didn't go as crazy as I wanted to but I could tell the difference today at the gym. I had crazy pumps in my chest triceps and calves. nice veins were nice. Haven't had a pump like that in a while. then I did 30 min of cardio after.

Nice! See, I think maybe I didn't eat enough carbs or something because I didn't get this "pump" I keep reading about... I was planning on doing legs today, but after doing squats I decided to switch to back/bis because I wasn't feelin much energy flow... if that makes sense haha Granted, I felt like I had lots of energy during the cardio? It was weird haha I guess it could be many factors, including the fact that I usually work out in the morning and it was late afternoon, but I was kinda disappointed :(
