Hi, I am fairly new on here and need some advice, I am 48 years old. 5-7 and 149 lbs. My child baring years I was always slim around 125-130 had 6 kids! When I hit my 40's the pounds started to creap on slowly. The last few years has been so hard to loose even a few pounds. Menoupause has set in now and progesterone and estrogin were very low so my GYN started me on bio identical hormone cream to level me off. I have been on that for approx 3 weeks so I am hoping that might help my quest to loose weight. The hot flushes have gotten better, sleeping is a pain though. I started working out more 30 mins on the eliptical daily and doing some weight training at night after work. My calorie intake is prob around 1200 and I started a fat burner last week. I eat good food faily often smallish meals. Okay so NOTHING is happening!! I think my body hates me. I am going home to Australia in 4 weeks and need to look good after 10 brutal wisconsin winters ha. Seriously though. I want to feel better as well and realize I am changing and probably wont ever be 125 lbs again and thats ok but I would like to drop 10 lbs, am I going about this all wrong? I have also found the elasticity in my skin has changed too. My GYN says well get used to it, its change of life and when your 50 it gets worse, I don't buy that totally. This sucks so bad! There has to be an easier solution.
Any suggestions on work out plan and diet ?

You are not eating enough, 1200 a day is way too low.

Go to the nutrition section and read the stickies on calculating calorie needs. You need way more cals than that and you need to figure out what cal level your body needs.

Your body only "hates you" because you are starving it.

Pick yourself up the New Rules of Lifting For Women. It's a good place to start and the best $12. you'll ever spend.

Dang. Your doc sucks! Did he/she also do a thyroid panel?

And the comment about get used to it, its change of life and when you're 50 it gets worse... total batcrap!! I and others here are proof of that. I'm also hypo and opted to not even get my hormones checked as I will not do any form of HRT.

Definitely get the book. Do the workout. Read and re-read the nutrition section. Then you can school that stupid doc.
