Well I finally got around to taking some pics of some new equipment I received over the last month. I'll start off with the Lat pull down machine, its the Pro-Line Bodysolid mid lat row machine SLM300G-3. I bought it with the optional 310lb stack. It was almost a hundred dollars more for this option. It was a toss up between the tuff stuff and this. I was looking at other models- but a solid welded unit ( Like Legend) would not fit through the door into my gym- so this eliminated many other models to choose from. I must say I really like this machine- its built like a tank and takes up very little footprint (it's only 2ft wide) and not too tall either. 62”L x 24”W x 83”H. Some might not like that with the extra weight they supply you with 15lb plates instead of 10lb plates. I knew this and it really doesn't bother me-it may be a hassle with smaller one arm exercise like-one arm curls etc. But I haven't found it to be a big deal. Would I prefer 10lb jumps instead? sure- but life goes on. The mid row is a bit different than a low row-lets just say leave your ego at the door- seems the low row was easier. But I still get an incredible workout regardless, and drop sets are a breeze now. I am able to perform all my back, triceps and some bicep exercises on it. It's really sweet for seated bicep curls- you can sit back as far as you want and get a great stretch.
Now the Legend stuff really rocks. I bought the black upholstery with the storm gray frame. Built beautifully and rock solid. The seated calf fits perfectly I think, foot placement, height, seated position, everything. I had an older body solid one before and the 45lb plates would bottom out on it. I am really digging this machine. The measurments are (LxWxH):52"X25"X41" 190lbs
The ab bench is great too, I know its not the most exciting piece of equipment but I wanted something that would rock around while I was working abs. This thing doesn't budge- it solid with handles on the side and top to help you out I guess when you've exhausted a set of crunches. (LxWxH):42"X24"X38" 136lbs
I also picked up the leg extension/leg curl machine. Again built like a tank. I would have liked a selector unit but again its just too big to fit as a solid piece. I had an older tuff stuff unit before with a seated leg curl-cam unit. I could definitely use more weight on the cam unit than the Legend. The leg extension works great- I have to keep my legs a little further apart than the other unit- but its not big deal. I would have like to bring my feet in closer to my body on the downside of the exercise, but my legs still get a great burn from it. with the leg curls you simply pull the pin and the adjustable pad move down, and there are a pair of handles to hold onto just like when you are in the seated position. I think you get the gist of the exercise. (LxWxH):60"X24"X42" 276lbs, it definitely a beefy unit but again its only 2ft wide- so that worked out great. Dealing with Legend was great and I highly recommend them if you are looking for some really nice equipment.

i bought it from a local dealer for around $1600-it was a bit more due to the added weight plates. still not the cheapest out there- but I wanted something really nice- since it is used for so many different exercises.

Grumpy, have you ever seen the little 5 lb increment weights that go on selectorized stacks? They're a bit overpriced when you price weights per pound, but there are several available options out there to help with the 15lb jumps on the lat pulldown. Which, by the way, looks great. My brain kept thinking Powerline by bodysolid and I was thinking, that ain't a powerline lat pulldown. That nice of a pulldown may have already come with incremental plates, if not it can be your next home gym buy; cause you know, there will be more purchases. ("Add on Weight" would be a good net search to find what I'm talking about).

I did look into those at first when I was considering a 200lb. stack versus a 300lb stack. I thought about it for a while but went with the 300lb stack (which then becomes 15lb plates instead of 10lb). So far it hasn't really been an issue- if I had a choice- sure I would go with the 10lbs- but it wasn't meant to be. Besides I guess I just have to get stronger now! But I love the lat machine- I can do so many things on it.

Not sure if you're following what I was talking about. I have one of these 5lbers for my multigym, they work pretty well. If this is what you thought I was talking about, sorry to spam your thread.

yes, that's exactly what I was thinking about, sorry its been a long day and now realize (like a dummy) what you meant. yes those would indeed come in handy when another 15lbs is just not doable. I would have to make sure that it fits correctly on the machine I have. The center metal piece that holds the plates is kinda wide- not sure the initial opening on the add-a weight will fit unless I just place it on the top- just want to make sure it stays put. Thanks for the link- I may order one to test it out.

Grumpy - that is one sweet lat pull-down - I totally want it!
I was debating between the F660 Hip Sled and this Lat Pull Down (I could only afford one) but I went with the Hip Sled for now. Hoping to add this to the collection someday though..

I just got my legend lat/low row today, my 300lbs stack is in 10lbs increments but I'd be interested in these small addons weights as well, if you end up trying them out let me know if they fit.

okay just don't mention the little fact that you now have in possession the legend lat pulldown ( the one I would have gotten most likely if I could fit it in the doorway) you must post pics & review! Even though I love the machine I have I am still a wee bit jealous.

yes its an awesome machine-funny I got this and you got the leg press- now I want the legpress and you want the back machine. figured I can do squats fro now- but I really missed not having a lat tower-so it won out. I looked around at different lat towers but I was limited in having to get one that bolts together versus a solid welded (would be my first choice). I should have planned out my homegym better with a much wider door entry

I ran the tape measure over my 5lb add on (it's from Vectra... never actually read the make before). The diameter of the center hole is right at two inches. The shape is the same as the one I linked. I was worried about the fit when I ordered mine, but it works for my Bodycraft Galena multigym.

thanks- will have to measure and see if it will work- if so then that would be great on some exercises.

Amazing machines! That lat pulldown with 300 pounds stack is just great. And for the leg curl/extension, a little expensive but worth it! Great setup man congrats

Grumpytude - Thanks for your posts and photos on this lat machine. I ordered one with the 200lb stack and assembled it this weekend (lots of parts!) - really liking it so far.. One question for you - did you put any sort of lube on the cables or just using it as-is?
Thanks,
Viking

Glad you are enjoying it. Its a real nice piece of equipment. Lots of stuff besides back exercises can be performed on that machine too. Also the two attachments that came with it are pretty decent too. I spray & wipe some silicon spray on it now and then. Seems to do the job and you don't need alot. So where's the pics?

All of that equipment looks wonderful. I'm going to have to agree with everyone else: I am completely jealous of that lat machine you have there.

I'll have to post some pics when I get back in town.. All I have used it for so far are back exercises and triceps push-downs. What else do you recommend?

great for ab crunches, bicep work too ( I lean back in the seat and get a good stretch). One arm chest crossovers work pretty good too. Seated rope triceps extensions-facing away from the machine, also standing away from the machine using overhead triceps work. Upright rows too. Some forearm work. It's quite the versatile piece of equipment-tons of usage from one machine=great bang for the buck!

man that thing is nice! quality solid build and looks quite the space saver ,was def on my short list but needed a lower pulley for certain movements mainly for shoulder raises .So went for the lighter commercial body solid weight stack lat machine, really looking forward to using it when it arrives.

yes, definitely one of the advantages of a low pulley is cable side laterals. There are some things I miss about a low-pulley. I definitely like a foot-plate design compared to just a foot bar-but oh well can't have everything. I was thinking of having my friend make a diamond footplate for this machine (he is a metal fabricator) -that way the plate would sit further up-and I could get into a better position with my feet higher up. But for now it is working out just fine. Post some pics when you get your lat machine, its definitely a great piece to have in any home gym.

I got the Legend lat pull/ Low Row and love it.. it is built solid as any machine I have ever used and the lat bar and row handle that comes with it are not the cheap ones either... The only thing is I cant do cable shoulder flys with it for but like 4 or 5 reps because the carriage you put the weight on im guessing weighs between 30-45 lbs itself but other then that it's great..

very nice.. looks like its built like a tank. I love the Legend stuff. I so much wanted their selectorized lat/low row but no way I was getting it into the house. Same here on the cable shoulder laterals, since I got the 300lb stack, each plate is 15lbs plus the carriage & position the bottom cable is in-it makes it tough and kinda awkward to complete a full set.

I am just in the beginning phase of building my home gym but definitely interested in this piece to compliment a quality power rack. I use the cable machines at my local gym so makes sense to get something like this when I transition to home workouts only. Nice purchase!

Yea it is built nice, it took me and another guy to unload it and move it in the gym.. I underestimated how heavy it would be... But the overall smoothness of the machine is very nice, hardly any noise at all.. If I do buy any other equipment I will go with legend fitness again plus their customer service is top notch..

That body solid Lat pull is the one I'm thinking about getting myself for Christmas and was wondering a couple things like does the leg hold down get in the way when doing rows or can you just pull the whole pad assembly out and are you happy with going 310 pound stack vs the 200 I'm leaning toward the 300 myself because I would rather have more weight than need and have you had any problems so far...thanks

The knee pad adjustment is removable- so it won't be in the way for rows or anything else you decide to use the mid row for. Yes I'm happy with the 300lb stack- but remember that if you get this- the increments are in 15lbs not 10lbs. And another thing to consider is a mid- row is a bit mroe difficult than a low row. It tends to pull you forward much more because you are positioned higher than a low row, thus making it more difficult. But I like the machine alot. I've owned since march I think and no problems as of yet.
