What plateau? Are you stuck on pull up reps or added weight?

Yah I use a weight belt on pull ups and usually do reps of 8 but I can't add any more weight. So yesterday I went heavier and did reps of 5 with less rest between sets.

I can tell you that it has helped me break through a plateau many times. I'll even throw in some 5-3-1s for a bit as well. It's amazing how after you add some weight even at the cost of a few reps, the old lower weight doesn't seem so challenging anymore. CNS training is what I'm thinking.

I've been doing 5x5 lately. I think it's kind of funny how a lot of people put so much emphasis on quantity of BW pullups they can do. Most exercises you focus on how much weight you use for X number of reps, not how many reps you can do for Y amount of weight. Why should they be different than any other exercise? You never hear someone say, "hey bro, I just did 43 one plate squats". That being said, I train chins at 8-12 reps, so I am hitting my vertical pulls at various rep ranges.
