Okay so after 3 pregnancies I've decided that I want to get in better shape. Sorta made it a jan 1st goal and have been sticking with it. I've lost some inches but not really any pounds, which I get is cause muscle weighs more than fat.

But this is my routine: M,W Legs/lower body T/Th Cardio (20 mins treadmill at 4/6mph rate working toward being able to do all 20 mins at 6 mph) and Upper body for weights. I swim on Sat/Sun and take Friday off.

I have cut all sweets out of my diet, chocolate, soda, etc and don't even really miss them anymore.
When I'm working I usually eat:
ham/cheese/pepper/tomato 2 egg omlette, container of fat free milk and a piece of fruit for breakfast....the fruit is usually a mid morning snack.

For lunch I typically get 8 oz of soup, a small garden salad and veggies with dip and milk
Snack: Piece of fruit

Dinner is sometimes more soup or a piece of chicken with vegetables.

I also drink at least 60 oz of water a day most days.

The thing is, I struggle to eat this. I'm probably in the 1500-1800 calorie range and I'm full with this food. I worry that perhaps I'm not eating enough calories and that is why I am not losing 'weight.'

I weigh 148 right now and want to get down to 130/135 and I'm 5'6 with a medium body frame.

I would appreciate any thoughts or input into what I'm doing.

Thanks,
Danielle

Hey if you are seeing results, what more do you want? You are seeing a reduction in inches! Thats amazing. That should be motivation enough.

The only way to know if you are getting the right amount of calories is for you to record how many you are consuming throughout the day. It truly is a balancing act, you have to see what is working for you. The thing that concerns me is that you don't have enough variety in your foods. I would try and look for recipes that interest you and have a good calorie/nutrition count. Because you can't just eat Soup for the rest of your life.

I would say... stop focusing on the number of 130/135 and really concentrate on how you want to look/feel. Weight is so unreliable. Like you said muscle weighs more than fat. You need to re-program your brain. Use the measuring tape... If you need to do the scale thing, look once a month.

Keep up the great work!

Jeshi,

Thanks for your response. I actually seen the most amount of lossage in my breasts of all places. Went from 38 to 34 in a few weeks. The rest of it is 1/2 inch here or an inch there. Which i guess is what I really do need to be focusing on! It's just so discouraging to see the scale not change!

As far as diet is concerned. I'm truly limited. I work out of state and away from home Monday-Friday so it's ALL prepared out food for me, can't make/cook anything. Which is why the diet is so mundane.

At home I try to eat a pork roast or stir fry on the weekends, a chicken pot pie, stuff of that nature, but that's only 2/7 days which is why I focused more on what I eat monday-friday.

That was the same for me... well kinda. I went from 42 DD to 38 G ... Don't ask me how that works. The last place I ever notice my fat leaving from is my hips. Thats just how I am built though. I think generally, the area with the most fat is going to be the hardest to burn off/last place to notice.

I understand you discouragement. I used to be the same, and heck I still sometimes lose my cool over the scale. I haven't been working out, so I have been using it to see how much I fluctuate.

Well then, if that is what works for you then it works! Just as long as you treat yourself when you are home on the weekends. A few of my favourite recipes that I came up with are sweet potato shepherds pie and gourmet meatloaf (okay I stole that one from my dad haha). And my boyfriend makes a good turkey chili! The best part about those meals is I have left overs for the whole week after! Yummy.

Just keep up the good work, you will get there eventually. And your scale might not be budging but I bet your body fat % is! (Ps. I am pretty sure those BF% scales that are sold to consumers suck and aren't very accurate either lol)
