Hey guys, some of you may have read my log. I'm in 8th grade, 5'11 187. I run a 4.94 forty yard dash, bench about 205 now, and am not really sure about my squat max. I gotta be honest, my agility kinda sucks, and I'm a lil chubby. Also, when I'm not in my zone I can be really heavy footed. My questions are:
1. What drills will give me better agility
2. Based on my stats, what position should I go out for in high school: FB, MLB, DE, or DT? I've played all those positions before, but I dont really know what I'd be best suited for in high school. I know none of you guys have seen me play, so its hard to say what position I'd be best at, but what do you think? or besides the positions I listed what do you think I should play?
3. I might end up playing 8 man ball if I go to a smaller school, hows it different than regular 11 man ball. Like formation wise and what positions require different attributes than in regular FB
Thanks!

not a football guy but being a big man myself at almost 6' 3" 205 the key to foot quickness is ladder drills, get on that ladder, work hard you'll see iimprovement

1. Plyometrics
2. LBs or DEs
3. for 8 man theirs Ussualy only one or no safetys and no corners. OLBs have to cover WRs. Really depends on the scheme by the coaches.

They aren't the cheapest but they are worth it. :)

Another question:
Do any football players here know any big, mostly strong not super-fast fullbacks?, I love the position and I'm quick and hit holes fastly, but my sprinting speed is not perfect. I'd like to give it a try. Or do you think I should forget that goal and just focus on DE/LB?

if your only in 8th grade you probably arent even done growing yet. i was 5 9 in 8th grade and ended up being a little over 6 ft 2. Just work as hard as you can at getting stronger and faster and your position will find you. Also the ladder thing you dont have to buy one, use some chalk in your driveway or tape, the foot speed drills are what are important, not the actual ladder

just wanted to throw this out there--
if you want to play football, it is not a good thing that you know what you can bench but not what you can squat.
having a good bench is good for impressing your coaches, but in most sports it's not really good for much else.
the squat, on the other hand, will not only strengthen the whole body for power, but also work the core, giving you better balance and control. it should be more important to you than your bench
not to mention, a squat very closely resembles the motions of firnig off the line or making a tackle.
just something to keep in mind.
also, the power clean is one of the most valuble lifts to give you explosiveness and power. definetely think about incorporating them
