Each person has their own sources of motivation. What do you personally think of when you have that one last rep to squeeze out, that last mile, or whatever challenges you almost beyond your limits?

Knowing that a long workout in the gym or run on the local trails puts me at ease with my life and mellows me out.

Gave up alcohol and a few other habits, started eating way better and it's really motivating to see my results in the mirror, just haven't bothered posting up pics, and won't until I'm done with my regime in early May.

Other things that motivate me:
-a bad day at work
-a good day at work
-other people running/lifting
-good music (listen to a lot of metal)
-cooking fantastic, yet still healthy foods
-knowing that I sleep a million times better now that I'm working out regularly

Every 25 lbs. I lose my penis grows an inch seriously. You can imagine how motivating that can be considering I stand to lose 50 lbs. My wife is in for a real treat more ways than one.

I stay easily motivated because If I ever miss a session of lifting I feel as though I'll go backwards and lose my cuts and that sucks. I like to be cut razor sharp (hopefully bulk succesffully soon) but if I stop lifting I'll become a complete noodle with no definition. On days where I'm tired or just not feeling it I think of that and/or I load new songs onto my Ipod that keep me powered up plus maybe take a energy drink or Pepsi Max pre-workout.

My motivation is not going back to the XXL clothes i had to wear because I was so big. Working out has become the best stress reliever and most rewarding for my body because all the hard work shows with the time.

If I stop, I will be what is expected of me.

I want nothing mediocre; I have only one small window in eternity to seize as my own and I wont allow it to be any less fulfilling than it can be.

I can relate to this. If I miss a workout when I'm cutting, for some reason I feel that all my progress has been nullified.

REVENGE...Revenge is the best motivation.

Revenge against my soon to be exwife for breaking up with me..revenge against any girl i tried to talk to turned me down and revenge against my mirror who i always was ashamed to look at whenever i passed.

So my answer is REVENGE.

My ex-gf is my motivation. She told me I was unattractive and told me I would never accomplish any of my goals and just went all out saying horrible things to me. The last time I talked to her, after going out for 4 years she made sure to knock me down a peg and to say I was a loser in every way possible. Anyways, I've been workout like crazy, I maintain an excellent diet that I never thought I could do. I'm eating a low cal/carb diet and following through without any cheats and when I even think of eating junk food I just think of her and how much better looking I want to be if I ever see her again so she can see what she's missing out on.

Before we broke up I never worked out because I was always too busy fighting with her, and I was so stressed over the fighting I was come home and make the worst, greasiest foods I could find and I would eat so much of it.

As the weeks pass though I'm also starting to get motivation thinking about how you only live once, and while I'm young I want to just look the best I can possibly look and just reach my goals looks wise. Instead of watching a movie or seeing a picture thinking I wish I looked like that dude, I actually can if I put the work into it and prove I'm not as lazy as I thought or as other people thought I might be.

The thing that motivates me is when people tell me that I've grow alot..
It motivates me when people give good comments on my logs and pictures..
It motivates me when I stand on the scale and my weight has been increased..

Yesterday I weight myself, and saw something on the scale that I haven't seen since I went to college 13 years ago...209. I haven't been under 210 in 13 years and now I'm motivated as hell. Also, I changed my outlook. If I have a bad day, I go to the gym. If I have a good day, I go to the gym. Either way my day gets better and I know I'm moving forward.

What motivates me?

For every person that's said, "I can't do something", or that "I'm too small" or "not fast enough", or "not strong enough".
That adds to the blazing furnace which fuels my motivation to prove to them that they were wrong; and that in fact I CAN do, as well as thrive in whatever I put my mind to. Regardless of whether or not I was graced with the natural talent or ability for that particular attribute.

-People telling me I will always be small
-Never even laying my hands on a girl besides a hug(I might have a total of 6 hug in my middle school high school career)SRS
-Girls who look down on me
-Dad who frustrates me at times
-Girls

Way to go man!! Breaking up with her was probably the best thing that happened to you in the long run. Keep it up!

What motivates me? To never be that 300lb guy again. What motivates me to push out that extra rep when my body just screams at me to give up? The thought that at this point, that's what 99% of people do. And I'm not in that majority. I enjoy being the minority, that obsessive minority that most deem overdedicated and crazy. I get motivated when I look in the mirror and the result of all the sweat and pain is looking right back at me.

I get motivated when unmotivated people that have no interest in getting in shape jeer at me. It's like their laziness pushes me to work even harder. Maybe because I once was at that point, but then I made my mind up that I was going to get in shape even if it killed me. I've really always been competitive and I like to challenge the limits. So the more I find I'm in better condition, the more I strive to push my new limits. As Vince Lombardi once said, "You were given a body that can withstand most anything. It's your mind you have to convince."

THinking of what happens if I skip a workout is enough to get me in the gym.

such a generic question...but i like it...

I get motivated by improvement...constantly pushing myself..

i dont give a fk wat people say in or out of the gym..They may look at me and think what they want...buit at the end of the day its my life and i can do wat i want..

its my choice not to drink, my choice to always eat clean and my choice to hit the gym 5 days a week.

BBing is such an individual activity for me!! nothing feels better than smashing some iron!

-Seeing the guy for who a girl turned me down come in the gym, bench, leave. I hardly bench but guess who of us is the one making progress in the chest.
-Zhasni videos and such on youtube.
-Chris Shugarts stories.
-It feels good in at least 10 different ways.
-My day feels wasted if I don't go to the gym (unless if its a day off)
-This part of the forums ^^
-Some music.
-Seeing pictures/videos of guys with a physique I would like to have.
-Going to the gym to find bitches (sorry to put it that way, its the best way to describe their behaviour) that always looked down on me in high school staring at me, imagening what they must be thinking.
-Mirror

Are a few.

I feel the same way. I'm still in those XXL's, but I'm motivated to get and stay out of them. Being big is nice. Being fat enough to comfortably wear XXL's isn't.

Here's my stats. 5,11 and 140lbs, 10%BF. I am not scrawny by any mean (i posted some pics of myself in my profile).

Anyway... was at the gym today working my wheels. As I was completing my final set of squats of 100kg(225lb), a middle age lady was like "Wow! You are so small and you can carry such heavy weights???"

Immediately my ego was crushed flat! That was raw!! Now I am gonna bulk up to 160lb!!! I wanna thank the lady for the motivation! Respect!

Cheers and keep training hard!
