Hi ladies,

Are any of you on the keto diet or have tried it? If so, how long have you been on it, what success have had body fat loss etc

What did you eat on the keto?

I just started the keto diet 4 days ago. I'm doing the TKD but I eat my carbs throughout the day ( usually not with my last meal though) instead of just eating my carbs pre and post workout. This way just works better for me.
I don't know how much of a difference it makes because you're still eating the same amount of carbs regardless.

The only so called physical symptoms I've noticed so far is a lack of appetite and slight headaches but I don't know if I'm in ketosis yet

Was keto for 8 mths, which was too long, around Christmas I started getting dizzy all the time, would get on a xtrainer and almost faint and I am not a fainter normally. I had to start adding more carbs back in and was amazed after the first two weeks of getting headaches from the change in intake, that I suddenly had energy and power again. I have a natural tendency towards keto as I am wheat/gluten intolerant and I have never eaten lots of carbs, I tend to get them primarily from vegies such as green beans.

The headaches going into keto (and then out of keto) are pretty much the same as a coffee addict having no coffee for two weeks. So headaches are a good sign your body is adapting.

To measure Keto, go to a chemist (im aussie so cant recommend any for other countries) and buy some urine analysis sticks, all of them measure ketones in urine, some better than others. Being a nurse I prefer the 10x sticks because it gives me other information I can monitor as well, but any stick will do as long as it measure ketone output in urine.

Also dont forget to have cheat days on keto, some do it once a week, some once a fortnight, if you dont do this, your pancreas (and other organs) get lazy and dont use the keto state effectively. Shake them up by having a cheat day (and you can cheat clean, it just means a day where carbs dont have to be so tight, have some paella or a rice based dish, or whatever carbs you enjoy, just dont go crazy).

I use keto diets for all my contest preps with great success. Ketosis is not needed for fat loss, but if you eat carbs throughout the day, you won't get into ketosis... How much carbs do you eat per day?

Today is the end of day 3and I eat 20something grams or less a day. Have to incorporate veggies though.

Breakfast was an was Carb control shake wasn't hungry
snack cheese and pepperoni
Lunch 2 burger patties with cheese in the middle
wasn't hungry for dinner
snacks
low Carb low sugar yogurt, hot wings fried no breading.

Green tea with 1 pack of splenda gives me a boost of energy since I'm lacking energy.
