How is everyone measuring their body fat % ?

I gave up on this since Dexa Scan seems to be the only reliable method.

I look in the mirror:).
Veins in my stomach, abs, arms, quad separation - lower body fat.
Nice plump legs, blurred abs - higher bodyfat.
:D

I've also given up on getting an actual number, I use progress pics and it depends how well my pants fit, lol. I've tried calipers a few times and have gotten anywhere from 10-50%, so apparently I have no idea what I'm doing with those. I don't care so much about the actual %, but more about if I'm satisfied with how I actually look to myself.

I've gotten crazy readings with those hand-held devices and a not-so-well-trained-trainer using calipers. At one point, it was important for me to know and I was in hot pursuit of a number. Things have changed. Not so important any more. It's just a number and it doesn't define me or make me any happier/better.

I have been low enough where I had visible veins in my abdomen, arms, etc and honestly I kind of like me at a higher body fat, which made me realize it's just not that important to me.

Anyway, the mirror is what I use these days.

I don't understand why people stress about bodyfat % or about things like somatotypes.

Knowing it changes nothing.

You either look lean or you don't.

That said I'd say it's easier for guys to guesstimate.

Seeing yourself in the mirror just doesn't work for some of us.
I just don't see it for myself. Although I can see it on others.

That's why some of us need numbers ...or a personal trainer to see the strengths and flaws on our body.

Getting that number isn't really addressing the root of the problem. At some point, it's important that we see ourselves for what/who we really are without needing validation from a number or others :). Food for thought. Took me years.....

If someone is suffering from some kind of dysmorphia, getting some arbitary and most likely inaccurate percentage reading isn't going to help them anyhow.

Even DEXA isn't 100%.

If someone "needs" numbers, they can use a tape measure, along with mirrors. And photos.

BF% is just one more flippin' number that gives people a complex about how they look!

Take progress pics and look in the mirror :)

I go by my mirror and how my clothes fit. Although, the fit of my clothes is a little less of an indicator now that I've put on some muscle. I look better at a size 6/8 than I did a few years ago at that size.

I have never measured my body fat %. And regardless of what it might be, I don't give a f*ck. :D

Can someone, anyone, give me an example of a time when bodyfat% made a difference? I've done several figure comps and not once did a judge ask me what my BF% was before he gave me my rankings. I watch lots of sports, and I never worry about the BF% of the players, they're either in shape or not, good athletes or not.
