I'm 5'3 120lb 20%bf and I eat about 2000 calories a day. My BMR is around 1800. I'm lifting heavy. About 90 grams of protein a day. I'm gaining weight and I know it's not muscle because my BF% keeps getting higher! What the hell am I doing wrong? What should I be eating? Please, anyone who is willing to work with me and give me advice or an example of a daily meal plan, I will be incredibly grateful!

My first thought is to add some cardio onto your plan. At least 30 minutes 5 times a week. On those days you can add a few extra calories, preferrably protein, but cardio is really helpul for avoiding fat gain. How intense are your weights workouts?

I've read and heard that cardio isn't necessary in a good weightlifting plan and that it just burns all the muscle that you've built. But I'll take it into consideration. My strength workouts are very intense

I think it's just excessive cardio that isn't good in weight lifting. Some is definitely good because it really helps with muscle tone and REALLY helps with burning excess body fat. Unless you're doing hours a day while in a deficit you're not really going to be burning muscle, in faft just building more.

Would it be possible for you to post when and what you typically eat. Could shed some more light on your trouble spots.

I would first up the protein to 1-1.5 grams per pound if your lifting heavy, this should insure you gaining as much muscle as possible from your intense workouts. Usually when people skip on cardio is because their lifting is high rep low weight. I am someone who wants to gain as much clean mass with explosive speed, I never run more than half a mile at a time to keep from taking away my mass, but i do some intense sprint work that takes the place of any cardio. as far as eating my suggestion is, eat clean: eat only things that will nurish your body.
