I was wondering if it is normal to gain 2-3lbs throughout the day after consuming meals and fluids. Yesterday my weight at the beginning of the day was 195.6 which I was really ecstatic about because that means yay finally lost 20lbs. I had breakfast and about 0.5-1liter of water and went to re-weigh myself to double check the number and it said I weighed 198.4. Is this normal? I've been on the right track so far and want to make sure I continue because I have 65lbs more to lose. Thanks for any advice and/or tips.

Yes it is normal. I've been known to gain 8lbs after a certain salty Greek restaurant, lol, and go back down the next day.

Totally normal. That's why it's often said to weigh yourself at the same time of the day.

If you grabbed a bucket of water that weighed 5 lbs and then stepped on a scale - the scale would weigh 5 lbs more right? Same thing if you are ingesting that. Food and water carry weight. Your body is constantly in a state of weight flux, for lack of a better term, sodium, glycogen, water weight, food weight, whether you've gone to the loo or not ;)...all can cause scale fluctuations. That's why it's best to weigh same time every day (1st thing in the morning is common, before eating or drinking) and don't sweat small day to day changes, rather look for a weekly average or downward trend.
