For example goodlife, do you have to provide your own clients or do they provide the clients for you

I just got hired at goodlife and started working there this week. They expect you to get your own clients. They do however provide you with what they call personal trainer starter package clients where they pay you $12 an hr and your job is to try and get these people to sign up for a premium personal training program aka regular rate.
I also applied at extreme fitness and according to the ad, it said they will provide you with clients, however when I went in for the interview, the manager said he wouldn't give me any clients for a few months when I first start and I'm expected to prove to him by getting ones on my own before they will give me any. Needless to say, I never called them back.

Any gym that you work at, they're going to want you to be able to pick-up clients on your own. If your not bringing in any clientel - your not bringing in extra money for the gym. Gyms that dish you clients like crazy usually have salaried/comissioned personel that do the selling, and then pass them onto the trainers. Places with this set-up usually have a flat hourly rate that they pay a trainer without much room to grow, which means your making squat.
It's all about what you want...if you don't like selling training (aka picking up your own clients) - then find a gym that dishes you clients. It's a give-or-take situation, where you might be booked up quicker, but your most likely going to be paid a lot less going this route.
When your the one selling training, sky's the limit as to how much extra comission you'll be making ON-TOP of what you make for sessions.

i have no clue where your from, but i do know that Retro Fitness out here on the east coast dishes clients like bait to all trainers...You get hired there, and within 4 weeks - your booked solid...only downfall like i said, is low pay. Trainers there start at like $16 an hour, and top out at $20 max (out here in North Jersey/New York - that's nothing)! Decent if your young and first starting out, but not my cup of tea.
