so iv just recently started working out im not overweight by anymeans im 5'7 and around 125-127 lbs I need to weigh myself i dont really believe in scales dont really care what I weigh, more looking for advice on how to look more defined... iv started eating alot healthier my calorie counter says to eat btwn 1400-1600 calories I find im barely reaching 1400 yesterday was 1200.... I drink 2 protein shakes a day one usually at lunch then after work, i work out and drink another one and dinner.
Im just more looking for advice on toning up my legs and my tummy. all i do is situps and the plank, some ball tossing excerises also... is there anythign i can do to get rid of the excess layer of fat on my abs to show some definition? I usually do 20-30 min of carido least 5 times a week

Swap the cardio for Zumba, i have seen some of my female friends on facebook raving about it and one of them got slimmer of the month for their region, they say its fun and keeps people interested in fitness, it might drop the fat from you quicker than cardio on a machine will.

You need to eat more. I am sorry but 1200 to 1400 cals is not enough.
Being "defined" means that you have enough muscles mass to show through and low enough body fat to let it show.
You cant build muscle on 1200 cals at 5'7.
You may want to look at seeking professional help if you have a hard time eating more
The problem is not what exercises you are doing, the problem is your diet is way off.

If you are 5'7" and 127 pounds, you are not eating "lots"! If you know you are going to be too tired to prepare a meal after your evening workout, make it earlier and re-heat it. A lot of people make bulk meals on the weekends and/or freeze things to cook later. Plan ahead and you can make things easier on yourself and have less excuses. You are going to have to eat a whole lot more than 1400 cals to gain muscle. Like, at least 1000 cals more.

You need at least 1900 calories per day to maintain. Since you need to increase muscle mass, I'd not drop it much below that. If you need to focus on lifting weights and not so much cardio. You can't get toned if you don't have tone under the bodyfat. You also burn more calories lifting weights any day of the week versus cardio. And while lifting- you burn fat all over your body at the same time - not just the area that you are working out.
Good luck!!
