Ok guys im prepping for my next MMA fight, prolly going to be in march or april. Ive started doing striking in the mornings on mon n wed. I practice JJ in the morning on tues and thur. On fri morning i do cardio. After work i go to the gym and do mostly full body work, trying to build leg strength and explosivness. I eat roughly 5300-5500 calories a day and try to focus most of themwithin an hr of each wrkout. i stick to a 40/40/20 split of protein carbs and fats. If anyone is training in central ohio, and would like to cross train hit me up 3306144971. or any advice or suggestions for improvment post on here. thanks guys and ill kepp everyone updated.

You train only ground fighting, and only twice a week?

Well you've got time. What're your strengths and weaknesses? Do you have tape of your opponent? I assume you're fighting at 155. What's your cutting experience? How much weight do you expect to gain eating at that level?

Not trying to be a d*ck here but it kind of sounds like you're winging it... Going to the gym after work (so I'm assuming 5 days a week) more than you're training for any particular style of fighting (standup/ground) isn't really a proactive way to train for a MMA fight, and IMHO neither is splitting your time training fighting styles 50/50 between two opposites. Pick a base martial art, then find a REPUTABLE gym to train at. I don't care how much you go to the gym, if you're muscle bound and just a little bit good all the way around in your MMA game and step into a cage with someone less muscle bound but who focuses intensely on one fighting style - I'll bet they win every day of the week. Develope a base style then branch out from there, a 50/50 split just isn't going to cut it unless you've already mastered one of the two arts.

I have a good base in wrestling, i was multi time sectional winner and distict qualifier for high school, at the gym i try to do power lifting n kettleball lifts n do most of my work on cardio n conditioning. im focusing on my striking mostly now, because ive found out who im fighting and he is a few inches taller than me and will have a 3 in. reach advantage. so im working on slipping and going for takedowns alot.

No the fight i got is at 135, which i can do i used to cut from 150-135 every week for wrestling in high school. Ive changed my diet up a bit to maintain where im at and hopefully not gain or lose too much right now, im going to start cutting down 5 weeks out. My strengths are def my wrestling and my ground game. My hands are coming along but ive only had gloves on for a year and a half and wrestled for 7 now.
