Hey Everyone,
I've been browsing this site for sometime, and I've finally started that after loosing 15lbs, gaining 30lbs, loosing 20lbs gaining 15lbs.. that I need to actually stick to something and have some help of motivation.
I am training with a Trainer based in Winnipeg Manitoba. Who I've been training with since 2009, but I just can't seem to get myself back into the body that I once had, the motivation isn't there, and my mind isn't there anymore. And I'm not sure what else I need to do.
Little bit about me;
I'm 21 years old, born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba. I competitively ride horses which has brought me to move to Mississauga, ON. I am not going to be here much longer as I will be moving home in March of this year. (Can't wait). I dated this guy, a bodybuilder and he help motivate me a lot when it came to the gym, to the point that I had put on a good 15lbs of muscle and love how fit and built I looked. We broke up, I still care about him a lot, it's just that the distance wasn't working. And we've talked and are not opposed to trying again. But who knows what will happen in the next 3 months.
Soo my current stats, I'm 5'7" and 171lbs as of today.. I haven't had my body fat checked in some time but it's probably in the high 20's even maybe around 30% which disgusts me.
I want to compete in 2012, and get the body that I've always dreamed of. Of the women that I idol, Monica Brandt and Josie Costa..
Just hope to have some help..

Good for you for taking the first few steps and welcome to the board.
I just want to make sure you don't set yourself up for dissapointment. I've been training hard for 2 years now and am not ready to compete. I think getting where you want to be will take you more than a year. I just want you to have honest expectations so you don't get frustrated.
Also, why are you not motivated? If I wasn't motivated I would not be able to live this lifestyle! If you don't have determination and dedication I just don't know how you're going to get to the gym. I suggest making a 'vision board' and hanging it in your house/apartment. Put your idols on it to give you motivation every day!
Best of luck to you!

the motivation isn't there, and my mind isn't there anymore.
Here's your problem. I'm not sure how to fix your motivation, but you'll never get the body you're looking for without it. What have you done to increase your motivation and follow-through?

From one Winnipeger to another - welcome!
Maybe instead of thinking about what your body once was you need to focus instead on what it can and will be.
If you want to compete you need a specific plan/program that will take you from A-Z.
A good starting read is here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=130738983
I would suggest doing some reading (particularly the stickies here on nutrition, training and competing), developing a plan with a trainer who has a depth of knowledge regarding competition and then setting some small attainable goals along the way that you can celebrate.
And really asking yourself some serious questions - ie - if you want to compete that should be a huge motivation no? What I'm saying is if you have no motivation at the beginning how are you going to maintain it on what will be an extensive journey?

I Second this. I hang motivational pictures/phrases/magazine clippings from a posterboard. Its next to my bed so I see it everyday. Good for motivational and reminding yourself of goals.

I agree with the original poster on lacking motivation. I am in the same situation. Once in the lifestyle and moving forward it is easier to stay that way but it is the initial jump that is scary. Moving out of the "comfortable" area no matter how uncomfortable it is, it is still familiar. I, personally, do better when I have a workout partner. Someone that I am accountable to whether it is with someone physically there or someone that I communicate with. If I don't follow through then I have to explain why. You might try finding someone that can help hold you accountable. Just a thought.

Thank you for all the Comments everyone.. but did you read past the trainer part. I guess I should put in I've been training since 2004, and tried competed in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and never actually got down to a low enough bodyfat. I have the size, you can see it (display picture is really old) I have a HUGE picture of Monica Brant on my fridge, my phone and everything.

Thank you, this I know. As said in my origional post, I have a trainer, I've had a trainer since 2007 and the current one (since 2009) is the best one I've ever been with in my life.
Sorry just don't like to repeat myself.
I also had/have a guy in my life (my ex boyfriend) is going for his pro status this year. So I have the help.

Ok cool :)
I just want to point out that motivation comes and goes. There are days when I don't want to go to the gym. I want to go home and sleep. I want to eat a huge piece of chocolate cake... yeah that happens. COMMITMENT is what is going to keep you going. You must be commited to this or it's not going to happen. To think you can be motivated all day every day for this is unrealistic. You must make it a lifestyle and something you just do!!!
