And I know, I may sound like a complete idiot by saying this. But I just had a mental freak out saying (in my head): "I'm going to have to get to the body of an anorexic chick to get rid of my love handles!"
I know, no spot reducing, just massive amounts of cardio. I have that down, and the diet down.
Who else has the love handle problem and did they go away?
When I was young, I was really athletic, but always felt fat cause I had the handles.... so this time around, I want them gone. Very seriously.
I still got more than a handful on the right side, the left is def getting better. But still a good handful. Oh well. I guess this is more a rant on my love handles. Thanks dad! I asked him the other night "are the love handles from you, or mom?" They are from him.... Cool! :( haha

Massive amounts of cardio isn't necessary. What IS necessary is losing body fat through a sufficient calorie deficit. I suggest you have a look at the sticky on Calculating Calories to ensure your diet is on track.

LIFT WEIGHTS lol! It will help balance out your body proportions and tighten you up all over.
Massive cardio and dieting aren't going to tighten you up! That's why so many skinny girls on here complain about this or that on their bodies all the time. Congrats on your progress, but if you do not put on some lean mass, you will look like the same version of your old, heavier self except smaller.
Good luck, you have come a long way:)

Oh yeah! Sorry, forgot to mention, I do weights three x a week and core almost twice daily haha.
And thanks!!

I keep my calories anywhere from 16-1800 a day. And the days I meet with my trainer, I generally get in a cardio session too. So I'm currently doing about 8-9wrkts a week. If that gives you any sorta idea.... haha

You have really come a long way - congrats!
Are you following a specific lifting program or just winging it? If it's a good program I think you just need to be patient and keep going. Those last few pounds can be a real pain in the arse but you have done amazing and I think you'll get there.

I work with a trainer 2-3x a week. So, I'm pretty sure its fairly specific. And yes, she's been telling me to "just be patient" a lot lately. I'm becoming the little kid "But I want it now!!" I am worried about the loose skin issue. I guess I will just have to take care of that as it comes!
I do know, for certain, I'm not quitting this time, and whatever I gotta do, I do. If its keep to a strict diet. I do. It's all a simple by product on the road to my goal!

How long have you been on a specific plan (meal, weights, cardio)? How long have you stuck with it consistently?
Love handles are just body fat. Some women have more fat distributed there than others. The only option is to lift heavy and eat a proper diet - not an estimation, not a guess, but to really stay focused on it. You also need to give it time.
Is your workout effective? What exactly is she having you do 3x a week?
As for loose skin... no point in worrying to much as you can't do anything about it. I had a baby 7 months ago so I know exactly how annoying it is, but that's life I suppose.

I get love handles over about 120 lbs, yours will go away if you lose enough fat.

Lets see... I have been on this plan since May, '10. So, about 8.5 months now. And I have stuck with it, for 8.5 months, religiously :).
My wrkts with her is gen one, leg back day and one arm shoulder day, and then whatever isnt sore the third session. Some weeks I only see her twice. I like to leave my strength to her. She normally gives me a good wrkt.
When I'm on my own, I do stability ball weighted crunches, planks, hanging knee ups, and cardio (either interval, steady state, or running for as long as I can) My program may not be as fast as others because I have a bum knee and ankle that like to speak up from time to time.
Diet is basically
Breakfast:
4 egg whites, 1 yolk
3/4 oatmeal, plain
Midday:
4-5oz chicken
1/2 cup broccoli
Lunch:
4-5oz chicken
i sm-med sweet potato
1/2 cup broccoli
Afternoon Snack:
4-5oz chicken
2 slices wheat bread OR 2 tortillas
Dinner:
4oz chicken
1 sm-med sweet potato
1 cup broccoli
Pre & Post Wrkt:
2 scoops whey protein.
Sometimes, I sub out the chicken in some of the meals for either tofu, or flank steak.
Sometimes the broccoli is subbed for kimchi or a sald
Sometimes the sweet potato is subbed for a slice of wheat bread.
So it hasnt been that long. I think I may ask her to push the weight a bit more. Some days I dont even get sore anymore. So, that may be my next request!

There are lots of carbs and protein in your diet, but it looks severely low in fat. You need at least 40g of fat per day to be healthy.

Somehow it generally gets up to about 30-ish.
I'll see what I can add in....
Thanks!

I'd watch what your calorie calculator is putting in for fat for that chicken. I know personally when I was using a calorie calculator it was saying a boneless skinless chicken breast had like 4g of fat, which I highly doubt since I cut off any fat before cooking it. Now I actually always fry my chicken breasts in about 1 tsp olive oil per breast, so I just didn't add that in after.

Livestrong gives the chicken 1g of fat. I cut all my fat off too.....
And I forgot to add in that I slip a teaspoon of fresh ground almond butter from time to time....maybe...twice a day..... guilty pleasure.. haha

Almonds are so healthy for you, I'd put that in every day to get those fats up. Just keep your overall calories between about 1600-1800.
I'll also tell you that you don't need more than 130g of protein per day. So if you want to have some fruit in your diet, you can fit some in there too. I didn't see any. :)

I think a lot of people think in terms of absolutes - ie. good/bad calories, good/bad foods, when really any diet that puts you in a deficit and contains enough protein/carbs/fats will actually work. Sure, when dieting, you are working with fewer calories, so this does change what you can fit into the diet, but you can still have yummy things. For example, a square of dark chocolate, yummy fruit, or if you like savory things, chili made with extra lean ground beef is great.

I have the same problem! The stubborn love handles refuse to budge. I've tried high intensity cardio,a fairly clean diet and moderate weight training but nothing seems to work! It's frustrating because my frame is on the smaller side but I'm not toned. Bf measures 18-20% usually.
HOW do I get rid of them? Any ideas? What could I be doing wrong?

"I'm going to have to get to the body of an anorexic chick to get rid of my love handles!"
I feel this same way sometimes! This is the first place my fat goes, then all over my abs.
But WOW - your transformation!!! Congratulations!
