"Please reply with the type of clients you would like to train (we know that you'll train any client, but if you could choose a type of client to train, what would it be?)"

seems like this might be a trick question or maybe they're looking for something specific? This is part of a job posting for a personal trainer at a local gym.

Just answer the question honestly.

By types, assume they are the goals, conditions, and populations you are most knowledgeable about and work best with as a trainer. Weight-loss, strength, pre/postnatal, elderly, etc. If you happen to be great with diabetic clients that also have horrendous posture, don't sell yourself short by listing only the strong athletic type who is able to do every exercise and complete any program written for them. When the former type comes in looking for a trainer then the manager may not direct them to your services... because you didn't list them.

Best of luck.

Its probably asking to figure out if you have some kind of specialty. Like if you come from a background of sports, you might prefer to do athletic type training so when they get a client that has athletic based goals they can schedule them with you.
