Hello ladies!
Long time no see! For the last year or so, I've been busy stuffing my face with poison! That's right: cake, candy, cookies, chips, salt, bad oils, and all kinds of other *** I never should be eating, and if I play my cards right, will never eat again!
I post this information for two reasons. One is, so that I know I'm not alone. I played the iron game a for a long time. When I was deployed in 2008, I had a huge milestone in the gym: a 225 pound romanian deadlift for 6 reps! Looking at myself now, I can't believe how far from that body (and mindset) I've gotten. In some ways, it's saddening. Honestly, once I got my honorable discharge, life just pooped all over me and I wasn't really in a position to work out or eat right or even really care about that stuff anymore. This is why I post this. For all the other women out there who haven't yet hit their "rock bottom" but are contemplating making the changes necessary for the new year. Granted, a new year has something to do with my new-found vigor and passion, but in all honestly, the timing is just better than it's been in a really long time. Things are finally slowing down, I can finally look forward to the coming year, school won't be as stressful, and my frame of mind is getting back to where it used to be. Finally, I can feel the desire for the veins, the pump, the salads instead of the crap.
Reason number two for posting this: To out my embarrassing habits. So people can look at my Bodyspace now, think to themselves, damn, and come back in a month and see the changes, see the progress and know that they, too, can do it. It doesn't always matter where you start. Sometimes the only thing that matters is getting to the end, anyway you can, best way you know how.
The good news is: I have you ladies to support me. And I thank you. More good news: I know I can beat these damn cravings. I've done the keto thing before with amazing results. I don't like all the fat, so I'm going for a paleo type of diet this time, allowing myself flaxseed for breads, waffles, cakes, etc.
Anyway, thanks for reading my long post.
I sincerely cheer for all you ladies to reach your goals.

I'm sure you'll get back to that body in no time. Half the battle is having the KNOWLEDGE so that you can make the transformation. Next is staying motivated. And also important is kicking yourself in the butt and getting right back on when you fall off that wagon.

I know you can do it!

poison? what is 'poisonous' about cake? [note: if you are spiking cake with arsnic, then I see your point].
and why 'never eat it again'? ever? that is a pretty bold statement right there.
what about birthdays? or christmas? or if you were locked in a candy store accidently for a weekend.... you wouldn't eat candy then to survive?

Seriously: I appreciate you are motivated to change, and I commend you for doing so. But if you lock yourself into this sort of restrictive, "all or nothing approach" to your eating (or training too for that matter) you are bound to end up back were you are now.

Remember this is about a LIFE change that you can moderate, appreciate, and continue for the rest of. Make it sensible, balanced, and achievable.

Good luck.

^^This^^

And in before Kfisherx starts talking about not doing any "retarded" diets lol.

Seriously, OP, great that you are getting back on board with your health and fitness. But taking an all or nothing approach ( I can NEVER eat cake or processed foods, for example) is exactly what causes people to FAIL. Moderation, moderation. There is no always or never, just be sensible about your nutrition and understand that it is perfectly okay to eat "junk" sometimes even when dieting! Then you won't feel totally derailed from your eating plan and give it up completely (and this is also why extreme or "retarded" nutrition plans are so difficult to stick to for the long haul).

Good luck, welcome back!!

I've certainly been where you are... in the greatest shape of my life...to... what the heck happened...and back again, and then back to ...what the heck...blah blah. But each time I find myself doing better each time, and eating less and less of the 'bad' stuff, and learning each time. You will get there! you've been there! and that's half the battle.
