Would these be any use to me? At the moment, my lifts are like next to nothing, so the weights enough. For £50 I can't go wrong right?
Or, would I be better getting this weights set, which is from a more recognised producer in york?

The problem with these are that, it doesent come with a bench, so I woulden't be able to bench press.

i buy my standard plates from argos and i can tell you pro power is better than york. But both are fine.As for the products you have listed think about it.A bar and dumbells over a bar and bench with leg extensions equipment......For me its a no brainer. If your trying to buy a home gym i would hold off until you have a couple hundred pounds man. A gym where you have a diverse selection of equipment would be best for you long term.If you feel you have enough drive and space to get a home gym then start saving now.I saved fr 1 year for my home gym and stayed in an actual gym during that time.
Its best to decide now what you really want. I bought a pro power bench to begin with and they are not very stable.Invest in a high quality piece of equipment for a higher price.
Here is some equipment that might be better

buying the bar you have listed could be fine if you purchase some of this equipment.
Honestly if you buy the bar and dumbells, the squat stands listed and the adjustable bench you have an extremely good basis.A door frame pull/chin up bar here would be a good idea(form argos also)http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9250291/Trail/searchtext%3EPULL+UP.htm
With a bar, weight plates, dumbells.pull up bar, squat stands and a bench you can do most of the bread and butter compound movements
Hope this helped.Should only amount to over 220£ anyways. Then the fun can begin and you can add to your gym.If you have any questions on equipment in Britain i have scoured the net for it and i know the good places to search.Repped for taking action to fight anorexia

Thanks for the long reply back. I don't really have that much money to spend on it to be honest. Im just unsure about what to do about the weights. If I buy the 35kg weights w/ bench, then atleast I can do all of the compound movements which is what I was thinking.
With the york things, I get more weight, and a more available brand, but, I don't get a bench, which means I can only do four out of the 5. And, benches aren't exactly cheap.
Im still stuck on what to buy. More weight, more available brand. Or, a real good starter set, which allows me to all the compounds. I think im leaning towards the bench set, but I just wanted a second opinion.

think clearly on this now.with the bench you cannot squat. With the bar only you would have to clean the bar to your neck and press it over your head and then squat. If you want to gain muscle you have to try and lift heavy every workout. With this combo i cant see drastic changes happening i'm sorry man.your best bet is to join a gym.If you can afford gym membership then go for that.Sure its noce to have equipment in your house but i stayed in a gym until i was ready to buy my equipment. If you buy these products now you are (i'm sorry to say it)wasting money.
I feel for you mate i really do.If you haven't lots of money for equipment then join a gym for a few months.Or a school gym.Usualy university gym do yearly memberships for around 120£ or 180 euros.
Home gyms are for the hardcore lifters who hate the hassle of the gym
Heres what i would do
1.join a gym
2. make a thread in the workout section stating that your skinny and want to do some serious bulking
3.take their advice and get stronger every workout
4.if you do this 50kg will not be enough weight your strength will skyrocket
5.think long term
I swear that this is good advice man.Ask some of the moderators here for advice
Make a thread in the workout section like this one and i swear they will tell you the same thing as me.

you know what tell me how much money you have to spend. If you have enough to join a gym then that is where you should be going tomorrow morning.try and get at least 1 year but its so much more worth it if your strapped for cash

Agreed. The gains that you can produce from a regular gym would be so much more than the Argos set.never tried the argos set but it seems like its a bad design. If you want to be big that wont get you anywhere and you cant even squat on the thing.
Join a gym brah

It's funny you mention the power clean method for getting the barbell on my back for squatting. I was just thinking of that.
Im just thinking about how much money I can stretch too. I have a gym sub already, but I can only got 3 times a week, so I was thinking that if I had weights at home. I could do a weights sesh at home, and use my gym time for a mixture of cardio and weights.
If I bought the york dumbell and barbell set, I could do four out of the five compounds. And then I could find myself, a cheapish bench, and just do dumbell presses and flyes.
My gym's quite adequate already, but to squat, I have to use a smith for example, and I just thought it would be good getting some free weights, so that if I coulden't make it to the gym, I could just do a weights workout at home.
Im doing rippetoes SS at the moment and im seeing constant steady gains with my lifts. The 35kg that comes with the bench etc will be enough at the moment. But my deadlifts at 35kg, so that would be another advantage of the york stuff, the higher weight that I get.

In my experience Argos benches are thinly padded and wobbly. It's your money but I'd rather just get dumbbells and do exercises that don't require a bench or go to a £5 a workout gym than waste money on cheaply made equipment that I'm likely to outgrow in 3-6 months.

ah i see what you mean.Well this is the advice im gonna give you.Dont ever not get to the gym.Make sure you get there.Dont say i fell tired today i'm not gonna train.I'd never train if that were the case. Don't bother with the weights set. You have a gym and thats infinitely better than your argos plans. As for smith machine squats as long as you do them man.The weights in the gym are free also so you can progress so much more.In order for me to progress past a point i sometimes need to buy more equipment. You have it for free.
.Focus on bench presses,squats,deadlifts,rows,pull-ups,military presses, dips, barbell curls and all that good stuff.Save that money up for something else or some supplements you'd like to get or something.Main point is your in a gym so stay there and GO TO IT.

Having no problems going to the gym brah. Love going, apart from the military presses ¬_¬. Plus, because my gym has a weight limit of about 80kg, not many folk go, so I basically have the whole thing to myself, while all the old men hog the treadmills.
Cheers for the advice man. I'll spend the £50 on some adidas superstars and sweats instead :D
