Has anyone tried this? And at 22% bodyfat, if you're on a 160 gram (640 calories a day) how much bodyfat would you lose per week? whilst doing carbups once every 11 days as said in lyles book.

I think you mean PSMF (Protein Sparing Modified Fast (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_Sparing_Modified_Fast)) and you'd probably lose a lot of bodyfat, but you'd need to do some weight training to help preserve muscle. I don't think anyone here can tell you specifically how much bodyfat you'd use without more information from you, such as your height, weight, activity level, workout program, the foods you intend to eat, what calorie limit you intend to set, etc. Have you considered just undergoing a normal calorie deficit instead of a very low calorie diet?

Category 2's on Lyle's Rapid Fatloss diet get more than 1 carbup every 11 days. Go ask your question on his board.

I've tried it. If you're on point with your diet you should be able to lose 2-4 pounds of body fat per week.

hi there. i'm also on the PSMF, eating about 700-800 kcals/day. If in the next 3 weeks, I'm not going to the gym and do anything (coz i've just had a minor operation on my hips), will I lose muscles? and can I gain them back by training hard after this 3 weeks?
Thanx for any helps

Someone correct me if Im wrong but Im pretty sure you should lift weights with high intensity and low volume to keep your muscle on such a big deficit.

Thiisss.
I've done it many times before, It works well for a quick cut.

In my latest episode, Did this for 6 weeks, 17 lbs lost (after factoring in glycogen/water stores), almost all if not all fat considering I had to get back into training and regained a LOT of my former strength.
and yes it's absolutely crucial to lift heavy with high intensity. I do not reccomend doing this diet if you're worried about muscle preservation and you can't get to the gym.

yeah. I know that I should life weights but because of my operation, my doctor said I cant do weights for another 2 weeks. I miss is like hell. But i'm more worried if I will lose muscle, let alone that fact that i'll lose my strength :(( :((

The worst possible thing you could do for recovery & lean mass retention after a surgery (where you can't get to train) is to go on a VLCD....
Not only will you delay/ slow recovery... But you'll essentially be asking to lose more muscle than necessary...
Be sensible. Eat well & allow yourself to recover. then worry about the dieting.

Yes, you will lose muscle. Dont do it if you cant lift.
