Hey guys, let me first say that I am very new to this site and I am in need of some advice.

I am a bit obese. 24 years old and I am 6ft tall and weigh 295 lbs.

I really want to lose weight and build lots of muscle. Ive been currently working out for two weeks, M W F workout days. I weight lift, then do about 15-20 cardio elliptical(I plan to increase it to 30 min).

My workout is chest, shoulders, back, biceps, and triceps. I try to do two exercises for each body part. 3 sets, about 10 reps the first two, then max out on the third(4-8 reps).

I plan on working out 5 days a week. Cardio each day. About 30 min Elliptical on lift day, up to an hour on non lift day.

My diet consists of about 2-3k calories a day. I pretty much eat a Cliff Bar when I'm craving junk food, and I limit fast food and fried food to once a week at MOST. I also don't drink alcohol.

My questions are:

How is my workout?
And the BIGGEST question is, I hear it's really bad to do cardio and lifting the same day. I pretty much make muscle and lost it by doing cardio?

Any suggestions?

Diet is most important in losing weight. Try n find your maintenance cal intanke (BMR) calculators are online. Take 500 less what it tells you

You have size, take that to your advantage, I would lift heavy for 45min and do fat burning cardio 20 min at the end. 4x a week and off days just 40 min fat burning cardio.
You wont lose weight as fast as doing cardio by it self.

Just keep at it, consistency is the key and Diet is very important.

No.. he should eat AT his BMR
but NOT his maintenence calorie intake

Dont ya remember we gotta walk around and all this junk so we burn 500+ calories a day just doin what we do on top of our BMR
